What did the reported “leak” say?
On November 29, 2024, Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett reported that the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) had indicated to Ripple that it expected to approve RLUSD. People close to the matter reportedly said Ripple was considering December 4 as a possible launch date. Fox Business said Ripple and NYDFS officials had no comment. The account was based on unnamed sources, so it described anticipated regulatory action, not a public approval decision. Fox Business, November 29, 2024.
Forbes framed the report as a leak in its November 29 article, updated November 30. The evidence cited here does not establish whether NYDFS later approved RLUSD or when it launched; the report should be read as a historical, reported expectation rather than a current status update. How RLUSD and XRP differ
RLUSD was the proposed Ripple-issued stablecoin: a token designed to maintain a stable value relative to an asset such as the U.S. dollar. In the Fox Business report, a possible NYDFS approval mattered because it could allow Ripple to offer RLUSD to the public.

XRP is a separate cryptocurrency. Fox Business described it as a bridge currency for Ripple-related payments and noted the regulatory uncertainty surrounding XRP in the United States at the time. RLUSD was the subject of the approval report; XRP was the token whose market price had risen. The report does not establish that RLUSD itself determines XRP’s value.
What happened to XRP and Bitcoin in the November 2024 coverage?
Forbes reported that XRP had gained 13% over the week and almost 200% since the U.S. election. Its November 30 update said XRP had risen another 20% in 24 hours and was up around 200% since October. Forbes also described XRP as the fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, at $108 billion. These are figures reported at that time, not current market data.

The same Forbes coverage put Bitcoin near the $100,000 level and described a rebound from $91,000 on the Wednesday before publication. It reported Bitcoin’s market capitalization at just under $2 trillion. Bitbank market analyst Yuya Hasegawa discussed the possibility of Bitcoin moving above $100,000 around the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday; that was a contemporaneous expectation, not a confirmed later outcome.
The headline placed the two assets’ moves alongside the RLUSD report, but timing alone cannot show that the report caused either rally. The article does not establish an exclusive cause for the price changes, and historical gains do not indicate what either asset will do next.

What forecasts accompanied the story?
Ed Hindi, identified by Forbes as chief investment officer of Tyr Capital, forecast a Bitcoin price of $250,000 for 2025. He also said in November 2024 that he expected Bitcoin’s bull run and volatility to continue through the rest of that year. Those statements were forecasts and commentary, not verified outcomes.
Hindi also described a possible Bitcoin range of $75,000 to $120,000 as unsurprising and anticipated profit-taking into year-end. His comments reflected his market outlook at the time; they should not be treated as a promise, a current target, or personalized investment guidance.

- Not confirmed in that report: A final NYDFS approval or a completed launch. Officials for Ripple and NYDFS had no comment to Fox Business.
