The title refers to a May 17, 2024 interview with Cardano Foundation CEO Frederik Gregaard—not an independent assessment of Cardano or proof that a blockchain pilot has delivered results. TechBullion identifies Unlock Blockchain and ZEX PR as interview collaborators and labels the article a company-submitted announcement. In it, Gregaard discusses long-term planning, global access to blockchain, regulation, and a reported Dubai Police pilot.

What did Frederik Gregaard say about Cardano’s future?

Gregaard described the Foundation’s planning in terms of a long horizon, saying, “We are optimizing towards decisions which will impact Cardano in the next 10 to 20 years.” The 10-to-20-year period is his stated planning horizon in the 2024 interview, not a forecast with measured outcomes.

The interview presents the Foundation’s mission as championing global blockchain adoption and equitable access. Gregaard also said people should be able to access the technology regardless of their country, border, or culture, arguing that it could bring economic opportunities. These are his views as reported in the company-submitted article, not evidence that access or economic benefits have been achieved.

What is the Cardano Foundation trying to do?

The Foundation’s current public description calls it an independent, Swiss-based not-for-profit working to advance Cardano as public infrastructure. It identifies technology, governance, and adoption as core areas, and says it supports organizations from discovery through integration. Its 2024 activity report describes work on adoption, education, operational resilience, partnerships, technical projects, and governance; these are the Foundation’s own retrospective accounts.

That current description provides organizational context for Gregaard’s interview remarks, but it should not be mistaken for independent evaluation of the Foundation’s performance. The interview reflects what its CEO said in May 2024; the Foundation’s website and activity report reflect the organization’s own descriptions at later dates.

What is the Dubai Police blockchain pilot?

The TechBullion interview presents a Dubai Police pilot as an example of applying blockchain to crime-solving and verification, with data privacy as an intended consideration. Gregaard described the collaboration as pioneering blockchain’s application in crime-solving. A Cardano Foundation event recap published October 24, 2024 describes the related example as decentralized ballistics identification and says it improves cross-border data sharing.

Those accounts establish how the interview and Foundation characterize the initiative, not whether it is in routine use or how well it performs. The available sources do not independently establish its results, deployment scale, the information recorded or verified on-chain, or specific privacy protections. In particular, describing privacy as an aim is not the same as demonstrating a privacy guarantee.

To assess the pilot, useful questions include:

  • Is it still a pilot, or is it in routine operational use?
  • What information is stored or verified on-chain, and what remains elsewhere?
  • How are access, identity, and sensitive data protected?
  • Have independent results or evaluations been published?
  • Which organization is responsible for each technical component?

What did Gregaard say about regulation?

The interview reports that Gregaard favored regulatory clarity and token-classification frameworks, and spoke positively about the UAE’s regulatory approach. These are his opinions as presented in the interview, not neutral legal analysis or a statement of what regulations require. The article does not establish how a particular token should be classified or what rules apply to a reader’s financial or business activity.

What is Cardano Explorer?

The interview mentions Cardano Explorer as a digital tool for viewing network epochs, slots, blocks, and transactions. It is a way to inspect network information, not a physical product recommendation or evidence by itself of the performance or practical impact of a blockchain application.

How should readers interpret the interview?

Read it as a dated account of the Foundation CEO’s priorities and the organization’s description of an example project. It is useful for understanding the Foundation’s stated direction, but it does not independently verify the impact of its work or the police pilot. For readers considering a blockchain claim, distinguish ambition from measured results and ask what evidence is available about actual use, privacy, and accountability.
