Terra-Gen’s reported $1.2 billion financing was for the Alta Wind Energy Center in Kern County, California. A 2010 account reproduced by GreenMonk said the capital would support four projects adding 570 megawatts of wind capacity and reported an order for 190 Vestas turbines. Those figures describe the historical plan, not proof that every planned megawatt was ultimately built.
What the $1.2 billion was supposed to fund
GreenMonk’s archive attributes the deal figures to a New York Times item dated July 21, 2010, though the original article and a primary financing document are not available in the materials here. The archived account describes $1.2 billion in new capital for four Alta Wind projects, together intended to add 570 megawatts (MW), and reports an order for 190 Vestas turbines. Treat these as figures reported in that secondary account, rather than independently verified transaction terms. GreenMonk’s archived report
Where the Alta Wind Energy Center is
The Alta Wind Energy Center is in Kern County, in California’s Tehachapi wind-resource area. GE’s historical account describes the development as a major California wind project and references power sales to Southern California Edison. That provides background on the project, but it does not establish the terms or structure of the 2010 financing. GE’s historical project account
How to interpret the capacity figures
The archived account distinguished the new projects from capacity already associated with the center. It cited 150 MW of existing GE-built turbines and described 3,000 MW as the center’s expected scale after the planned additions. The 3,000 MW figure was a projection in that historical report, not confirmation of the final constructed capacity.

| Figure | What it refers to | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| $1.2 billion | New capital described for the four projects | Reported in the archived account as a 2010 figure; financing components and lender group are not established. |
| 570 MW | Capacity the four projects were reported to add | Planned addition in the archived 2010 account, not a verified final operating total. |
| 150 MW | Existing GE-built turbines mentioned at the time | Historical capacity cited by the archived account. |
| 3,000 MW | Expected scale for the center after the planned additions | Historical expectation, not confirmed final buildout. |
| 190 turbines | Reported Vestas turbine order | Order reported in the archived account; the available materials do not establish delivery or installation details. |
What is known about the project now
Terra-Gen’s current wind-project page lists Alta Wind-related projects as operational. That confirms the company continues to identify Alta Wind in its operating portfolio, but the page does not verify the final capacity or financing details of the four projects in the 2010 account. The available accounts do not establish the deal’s exact closing date, the lenders involved, how much of the $1.2 billion was debt versus equity, or whether the four projects reached the projected capacity. Without a primary transaction record or more direct phase-by-phase documentation, the financing should be described as reported historical funding for planned additions—not as a confirmed final cost or completed buildout.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- Realistic Wind Turbine Model: This wind turbine model toy mimics a real wind turbine to scale, and the most interesting thing is that its blades can also turn.
- 21.65inch Large Size Model: Compared to other ordinary wind turbine models, this wind turbine model has a large size, which can be installed up to 55cm/ 21.65inch.
- Wind-up Wind Turbine: This windmill toy adopts wind-up design that enables the blades turn automatically after it gets winded up. To wind it up, we just need to turn its blades clockwise for several rounds.
- Learn While Playing: This model of a wind turbine is not only a toy, but also a scientific and educational tool. It can guide children to understand the role of wind and inertia more intuitively, and cultivate children's interest in science.
- Suitable for Multiple Occasions: Kids can play with this windmill toy on their own or DIY transform it in the company of their parents. Teachers can also use it as an improvised teaching tool in the classroom.
