What Steven Gerrard’s Estimated Net Worth Is as David Prutton Urges West Brom to Consider Appointment

No reliable current net-worth figure for Steven Gerrard has been published. Media estimates of £66.9m to £74.5m lack a shown method, and David Prutton’s April 2025 comments were a recommendation, not a West Brom appointment.

No reliable, current figure for Steven Gerrard’s net worth has been published. Some media outlets have cited a range of £66.9 million to £74.5 million, but those numbers are second-hand estimates with no shown calculation. Separately, David Prutton’s comments in April 2025 were a recommendation that West Brom consider Gerrard, not a report that the club had appointed him or made him an offer.

What the net-worth estimates actually say

An LFC Live summary puts estimates of Gerrard’s net worth between £66.9 million and £74.5 million and attributes them to Planet Football and GiveMeSport. The summary does not explain how either figure was reached, does not cite underlying financial records, and does not give a publication date for the estimates. That makes the range an attributed claim, not a verified balance sheet or a precise current value.

The fair way to report it is: some media estimates put Gerrard’s net worth between £66.9 million and £74.5 million, but the available sources do not show a verifiable calculation.

Why a salary figure is not a net-worth figure

The BBC reported that Gerrard was said to earn about £15 million per year while managing Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia. That is a reported annual pay level for one role during a fixed period. It does not tell you what he owns, what he has kept after tax, what he has spent, or what debts or other income he has. Earnings and net worth are different measures, and a headline salary should never be read as a wealth figure.

What David Prutton said

West Brom News reported on 29 April 2025 that Prutton, speaking to Football League World, urged the club to consider Gerrard as it looked for a successor to Tony Mowbray. Prutton pointed to Frank Lampard’s experience at Coventry City and Derby County, argued that the Championship lets a manager build a body of work, and said Gerrard’s profile could suit West Brom. The report framed Gerrard as one potential candidate. It did not report an appointment, an approach, or an offer.

SPORTbible’s report from the same day carried further comments attributed to Prutton, including the view that Gerrard had been judged too harshly after a difficult spell as a manager. Those remarks are Prutton’s opinion. They are not independent evidence of Gerrard’s suitability or of any likely hiring.

Verified context: how his Al-Ettifaq role ended

The Saudi Pro League’s statement of 30 January 2025 says Al-Ettifaq and Gerrard mutually agreed to part ways. According to that statement:

  • Gerrard was appointed in July 2023.
  • He took the club to sixth place in his first season.
  • He left with the side 12th in the 2024–25 league table, after five wins in 17 matches.

BBC Sport reported that he left after 18 months and summarised his earlier managerial work at Rangers and Aston Villa. Gerrard’s own comment in the league’s statement was: “But football is unpredictable and sometimes things don’t go the way we want.”

How to read wealth claims about public figures

  • Check who is credited with the number. A figure attributed to another outlet is a secondhand claim.
  • Look for a stated method. Net worth requires assets, liabilities, and a valuation basis. A salary, a transfer fee, or a contract value does not establish any of these.
  • Note the date. Wealth estimates go stale quickly, and many are not dated at all.
  • Separate reported pay from retained wealth. Tax, living costs, investments, and debts all sit between the two.
  • Treat a pundit’s recommendation as an opinion about a possible job, not as news of an appointment.

The date limits of this story

The West Brom coverage is from late April 2025, and the Al-Ettifaq departure is from January 2025. Those reports establish the context at the time they were published. They do not establish Gerrard’s current employment, whether West Brom went on to hire anyone, or whether any net-worth estimate has since changed. For those points, check the latest announcements from West Brom and from Gerrard’s representatives or current club.

Bottom line on the two questions

On net worth, the only figures in circulation are unverified media estimates, and no reliable current value can be given. On West Brom, Prutton publicly suggested that the club consider Gerrard in April 2025. That was an opinion about a possible candidate, not a record of a hiring.
