There is no evidence that Shree Cement’s short sellers knew of a hidden catalyst before the share-price decline. What was visible during September 2026 was persistent price weakness and, according to MarketsMojo, bearish technical signals. The company’s latest available results at the time were for the quarter ended 30 June; those figures provide context, but do not establish why the shares fell.
How far did Shree Cement shares fall?
MarketsMojo reported that Shree Cement fell 5.75% during the week of 7–11 September 2026, while the Sensex fell 1.68% over the same week. MarketsMojo also reported an intraday low of ₹22,510 on 11 September.

The later low was lower still: the NSE quote page recorded a 52-week low of ₹21,550 on 29 September 2026. These dated observations show that the weakness continued beyond the week highlighted by MarketsMojo; neither figure identifies who traded on the decline or why.
What bearish technical signals were reported?
The 50-day and 200-day moving-average crossover
MarketsMojo reported that Shree Cement’s 50-day moving average crossed below its 200-day moving average on 10 September 2026. This pattern is commonly called a “death cross.” It describes a relationship between historical prices: the shorter-term average has moved below the longer-term average. It is a bearish technical signal, not proof that a further fall must follow or that traders had advance knowledge of an event.

Other indicators in the commentary
MarketsMojo also described negative MACD readings and the share price trading below key moving averages. These are the publisher’s technical observations, not official company disclosures. They can help explain why chart-focused investors might have viewed the trend negatively, but they do not establish a cause for the decline.
What did the latest available results show?
The latest results available in the cited filings were Shree Cement’s unaudited, consolidated results for the quarter ended 30 June 2026. The NSE-hosted filing reports the following amounts in lakh rupees:
Rank #2
| Measure | Quarter ended 30 June 2026 |
|---|---|
| Revenue from operations | ₹6,23,313 lakh |
| Total expenses | ₹5,70,375 lakh |
| Profit for the period | ₹53,112 lakh |
| Power and fuel expense | ₹1,64,532 lakh |
| Freight and forwarding expense | ₹1,43,508 lakh |
These are consolidated figures for one quarter, not evidence by themselves of a deterioration that caused the later share-price movement. Comparisons with other periods should use a like-for-like reporting basis, including the same standalone or consolidated basis.
Were September-quarter results available before the slide?
No September-quarter results are disclosed in the cited schedule. In a 17 September notice, the company said its board would meet on 23 October 2026 to consider unaudited results for the quarter and half-year ended 30 September. As of 9 October 2026, that meeting was still in the future. The notice gives a schedule, not the results or an explanation for the share decline.

What can—and cannot—be concluded about the bears?
The available evidence supports a limited conclusion: price weakness was visible, and MarketsMojo reported technical indicators that chart-focused investors could interpret as bearish. The Q1 results provide company-performance context, while the scheduled October disclosure shows that the next quarter’s results had not yet been released as of 9 October.
The cited price data, commentary and filings do not establish that short sellers spotted a secret catalyst, what positions they held, or that any one factor caused the fall. “Bears spotted” is therefore best read as a question about signals visible during the decline, not proof of advance knowledge.
