Village Green’s September 2024 restaurant announcement named four incoming food venues: Six Streets by Six Senses, Sushi Hub, Mamak Goreng and Mecca Gourmet. The Real Estate Co. was also announced as a new tenant. The report did not give opening dates. Village Green’s current dining directory lists Six Streets and Sushi Hub, and both businesses have their own Village Green location information.
Which restaurants were announced for Village Green?
PerthNow reported on September 10, 2024 that the planned additions were Six Streets by Six Senses, Sushi Hub, Mamak Goreng and Mecca Gourmet. The Real Estate Co. was also named as an incoming tenant, but it is not a restaurant. The report said opening dates had not been announced at that time.
That announcement is historical, not a current opening schedule. Village Green’s dining directory currently lists Six Streets by Six Senses and Sushi Hub. Their own websites also give location details for their Village Green businesses. The available current listings do not establish the present status of Mamak Goreng or Mecca Gourmet, so they should be treated as venues named in the 2024 announcement rather than confirmed current tenants.

Six Streets by Six Senses
Six Streets describes its food as Thai street food inspired by six named streets. Its menu presents barbecue, salads and hot-pot-style dining, making it the more sit-down and shared-meal option of the two currently listed venues. The restaurant’s menu and location page gives its address as 230 Manning Road, on the corner of Kent Street in Karawara, along with trading hours. Check the page before visiting, as hours can change.

Sushi Hub’s Village Green listing covers nigiri, inari, sashimi, maki rolls, sushi boxes and party platters. Its Village Green store page identifies the shop as Shop 9, Village Green, Manning Road, and provides current store hours and online pickup ordering. That makes it a practical option for takeaway or platters rather than a hot-pot-style meal.

Where is Village Green, and what changed at the centre?
Village Green is at the corner of Kent Street and Manning Road in Karawara, next to Curtin University. The centre’s official information says it has more than 45 specialty stores and describes parking around the centre, shaded parking on the upper deck and a taxi rank on the Walanna Drive side.

The City of South Perth says the centre was formerly Waterford Plaza. In April 2024, it described the shift to Village Green and a High Street redevelopment designed to make the precinct a place to shop, dine, socialise and connect. The work included alfresco dining, shade, seating, bike racks, charging stations and public art. The city quoted Peter Atzemis, CEO of centre owner GPA, saying: “Our new High Street hub represents a deliberate move away from the traditional shopping centre to more of a close-knit urban village.” The City of South Perth’s release also says the Atzemis family had owned the centre since 1991.
