What Moves Argentina’s Construction Stocks—and How to Track Key Indicators

Track Argentina’s construction-related shares by pairing INDEC activity and cost data with issuer volumes, demand mix, margins, debt and currency disclosures.

Argentina’s construction-related stocks can respond to building activity, public-works spending, financing conditions, input costs, company pricing and balance-sheet risks. To track those forces, pair INDEC’s construction activity and cost indicators with each issuer’s reported volumes, demand mix and financial results. These measures help explain a company’s operating backdrop; they do not predict its share price.

Start with construction activity, not a stock-price forecast

INDEC’s Indicador Sintético de la Actividad de la Construcción (ISAC) estimates sector activity using the apparent consumption of a basket of construction inputs. The basket includes cement, reinforcing steel, ready-mix concrete, bricks, asphalt, lime, plumbing fixtures, tiles, paints, plasterboard, glass and other materials. It is a useful broad activity proxy, but it does not measure any individual company’s sales or profits. INDEC’s construction indicators and the ISAC release and methodology describe the series.

Read annual and monthly movements together

INDEC reported that ISAC rose 4.0% year over year in June 2026 and was up 2.8% year over year for the first half of 2026 on the original series. Yet the seasonally adjusted index fell 4.1% from May to June. Those figures answer different questions: annual comparisons show activity against the same period a year earlier, while the seasonally adjusted monthly comparison tracks recent direction after seasonal effects are removed. A positive year-over-year reading can therefore coexist with a weaker latest month.

When tracking a stock, record the indicator, series, period and comparison basis together. Avoid treating one monthly release as a direct signal to buy or sell: an issuer may have different geographic exposure, product mix, customer base or project timing from the sector-wide measure.

Track construction costs in their proper scope

INDEC’s Construction Cost Index (ICC) for Greater Buenos Aires is a regional cost-context series, not a national index and not a measure of the costs incurred by a specific listed company. In June 2026, the Greater Buenos Aires ICC increased 2.6% month over month. Its components rose 1.8% for materials, 3.3% for labor and 2.8% for general expenses. See INDEC’s construction indicators for the series.

For a producer of construction materials, compare cost trends with its own disclosures about realized selling prices, energy and raw-material expenses, volumes and margins. The ICC can add context, but its geography and cost basket mean it should not be substituted for issuer-specific cost data.

Use Loma Negra as one listed-company example

Loma Negra (NYSE: LOMA; BYMA: LOMA) identifies itself as a cement producer. Its filings and results illustrate why a sector indicator alone is not enough: demand, public works, inflation, exchange-rate movements, raw-material and energy costs, and broader business conditions can all matter to performance. The company is one construction-exposed issuer, not a proxy for every construction-related stock in Argentina. Its public materials are available through Loma Negra’s investor relations site.

Separate revenue, EBITDA and currency effects

For the second quarter of 2026, Loma Negra reported revenue of Ps. 238,053 million, up 2.1% year over year. Adjusted EBITDA was Ps. 48,175 million, down 2.5% year over year in pesos but up 12.5% in US dollars; reported net debt was Ps. 273,650 million. These are company-reported measures for 2Q26. The opposite directions for peso- and dollar-denominated EBITDA show why currency basis matters when comparing periods. Read the company’s results and definitions directly in its investor disclosures, rather than treating a translated figure as interchangeable with the peso result.

Check who is buying and what is driving demand

Loma Negra’s 2Q26 materials said first-half volumes were below its initial expectations and described weaker demand from public works and construction companies. Management identified easing monetary conditions, real-wage recovery and improved access to credit as possible supports for second-half volumes. These were management’s potential supports, not confirmed outcomes or an independent forecast; compare them with later reported results.

A practical routine for tracking construction shares

  1. Check INDEC’s latest ISAC release. Note the release month, year-over-year result, cumulative annual comparison and seasonally adjusted month-over-month change. Keep the original and seasonally adjusted series distinct.
  2. Check the Greater Buenos Aires ICC separately. Record the monthly change and its materials, labor and general-expenses components, while remembering that it is regional rather than national.
  3. Read the issuer’s latest filing or earnings release. For a materials producer, look for sales volumes, realized prices, private versus public-works demand, cost drivers, margins and debt—not just revenue.
  4. Keep currency bases consistent. Label each result in pesos or US dollars, and check how the company presents comparisons before inferring growth or decline.
  5. Compare management expectations with subsequent results. Treat outlook statements as attributed expectations, then check whether volumes, demand mix and financial measures later support them.
  6. Interpret the share price as a separate market outcome. Activity and company fundamentals provide context; they do not account for every factor investors may price into a stock.

How to compare construction-exposed companies

The available evidence does not establish a complete peer list of Argentine companies with material construction exposure. If comparing two issuers you have independently identified, use the same analytical axes for each:

  • Exposure: how directly the business depends on building materials, engineering or construction.
  • Demand mix: relative exposure to private construction and public works.
  • Volumes and pricing: whether sales volumes and realized prices are rising or falling.
  • Cost sensitivity: exposure to energy, raw materials, labor and other inputs.
  • Debt and refinancing: the company’s debt position and financing needs.
  • Currency: the currencies of revenue, costs, debt and reported earnings.

These comparisons help distinguish a broad construction recovery from company-specific strength or weakness. They do not establish that two firms will react alike or move in line with ISAC.
