Jennette McCurdy left acting and has since built a career as a writer, but no reliable source reviewed discloses her current yearly salary or verified net worth. Her memoir has been a major commercial success, yet its sales figures do not reveal how much she personally earned.

What is Jennette McCurdy doing now?

McCurdy publicly said she retired from acting. ABC News reported that decision in 2022, and Spotify described her as retired from acting in a 2023 profile. Her work since then has included writing.

In a 2026 interview with Marie Claire, McCurdy described writing as the work she turned to after quitting acting: “Rage is the reason that I quit acting and started writing.” The magazine reported that her debut novel, Half His Age, was released in January 2026.

How does Jennette McCurdy make money now?

Public sources document her writing projects, but they do not disclose her current income or explain what she earns from any particular project. McCurdy’s memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, is published in multiple formats. Simon & Schuster’s current publisher page reports more than three million copies sold and more than 80 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. Those are publisher-reported sales and list achievements, not a statement of McCurdy’s personal earnings.

The sources reviewed do not give the memoir’s advance, royalty rate, net proceeds, or McCurdy’s annual salary. Without those terms—and information about any other income, expenses, taxes, or financial assets—book sales alone cannot establish how much she took home or whether she is “crazy rich.” The publisher’s page lists the memoir’s available editions, but it does not disclose her contract or personal proceeds.

What is known about the TV adaptation?

In July 2025, The Associated Press reported that Apple had announced a 10-episode adaptation of I’m Glad My Mom Died. AP said McCurdy and Ari Katcher would write and serve as co-showrunners and executive producers alongside Jennifer Aniston. That report establishes what was announced at the time; it does not establish the series’ status in October 2026 or disclose anyone’s compensation.

Why online salary and net-worth estimates are hard to verify

A claimed yearly salary is not interchangeable with book sales, a project announcement, or an estimated net worth. The sources cited here do not verify a current salary, royalty total, or personal net-worth figure for McCurdy. An estimate that lacks disclosed financial records or a reliable direct statement should not be treated as fact.

One reported figure also needs context: ABC News said McCurdy wrote in her memoir that Nickelodeon attempted to arrange a $300,000 “thank you” payment conditioned on her agreeing not to speak publicly about her experiences, and that she did not accept it. This was an allegation about an offer described in her memoir, not a salary or proof of money she received.
