Outersloth is an indie game fund created by Innersloth, the studio behind Among Us. It offers funding to help independent developers start or finish unreleased games, using a recoup-and-revenue-share model. Innersloth says it does not want developers’ game IP and describes the fund as hands-off—not a full-service publisher.

What is Outersloth?

Innersloth announced Outersloth in June 2024 after the success of Among Us and The Henry Stickmin Collection. The studio said it wanted to help independent developers get the funding and freedom to ship games. Casey Yano of Mega Crit was named as a contributor, along with another indie partner who was not identified in the announcement. Innersloth’s launch announcement introduced the fund and its original slate.

Outersloth is intended for developers who need money to begin a game or complete one already in progress. It is not a grant: the fund describes its model as recoupment followed by revenue sharing, so a developer should review the proposed contract and understand how receipts, reporting, and term provisions apply to their project.

Does Outersloth take a game’s intellectual property?

Innersloth says it does not want to own the developer’s game IP. Its official page puts it plainly: “We don’t want to publish your game. We don’t want your IP.” That is the fund’s stated position; the signed agreement remains the document that governs the rights and obligations for a particular deal.

Is Outersloth a publisher?

Outersloth characterizes itself as a fund, not a full-service publisher. It provides funding and says advice or introductions may sometimes be available, but it does not promise services such as marketing or localization. Innersloth also calls the fund “very hands-off.”

That distinction matters when budgeting. A developer who needs a partner to handle promotion, localization, QA, release operations, or other production work should confirm those services separately rather than assume they come with Outersloth funding. The official Outersloth page describes its current support and application guidance.

Which games does Outersloth consider?

Outersloth’s current page says it mostly seeks premium projects for PC, console, or mobile that have not yet been released. It says it does not consider Early Access games, has no fixed genre preference, and will not consider blockchain, web3, or AI-generated games. These are stated preferences, not a guarantee that a project is eligible or will receive funding.

How do developers apply?

Outersloth’s application guidance asks for a pitch deck that includes a budget, production schedule, developer or studio name, and game name. A playable build or demo is optional. The page also lists potentially useful supporting material such as social links, past work, market research, a press kit, trailers, gameplay footage, and other context.

  1. Prepare the core pitch: explain the game and include the budget, production schedule, developer or studio name, and project name in a deck.
  2. Add supporting material where useful: include a build or demo if available, plus relevant work samples, audience or market context, and media.
  3. Check the live application page: confirm current eligibility guidance and submission instructions before sending a pitch.

The official page says likely funding is between $50,000 and $2 million, while inviting pitches outside that range. Those amounts are a stated likely range—not a fixed minimum or maximum, and not an award promise. Outersloth also cautions that response times may be slow because its team is small; the page does not establish a response deadline.

What are Outersloth’s funding terms?

In March 2026, Innersloth said it had funded 24 games and announced publication of its complete Outersloth contract with emails and addresses redacted. It framed the release as an effort to encourage transparency and more developer-friendly terms. The contract link was presented in the official announcement.

Game Developer reported that CEO Forest Willard described a 50% recoup split, a 15% Outersloth share after recoupment, and a seven-year post-release term. The outlet also reported platform coverage and monthly reporting requirements. These are reported summaries of contract terms, not a substitute for reviewing the actual agreement; terms and their application should be confirmed in the contract offered for a specific project. Game Developer also reported an initial five-year budget of $25 million and $19,161,040 invested into 24 projects, figures attributed to its reporting on a March 2026 GDC discussion. Game Developer’s March 2026 report provides that account.

How selective is the fund?

In its June 2025 first-year update, Innersloth reported that it had funded 22 games and described a signing rate of roughly 1.4% “as of writing this post.” That percentage is a dated figure from the fund, not a current acceptance rate. In March 2026, Innersloth reported 24 funded games; that is a dated total, not a live portfolio count. The official Outersloth page and Innersloth’s dated announcements are the appropriate places to check for newer information.
