PriceCharting’s guide lists an Atari 2600 Heavy Sixer at $173.50 loose, $300 complete in box, and $450 new; its Light Sixer entries are $48.22 loose, $130.79 complete in box, and $196 new. These are guide values based on sold listings—not guaranteed prices for a particular console. The model and what comes with it make a substantial difference.
Atari 2600 price guide values
PriceCharting separates the Heavy Sixer and Light Sixer models and lists prices by completeness. The following are its guide values, accessed October 8, 2026. PriceCharting says its prices are updated using sold Atari listings on eBay and other marketplaces.
| Model and condition | PriceCharting guide value |
|---|---|
| Heavy Sixer, loose | $173.50 |
| Heavy Sixer, complete in box (CIB) | $300.00 |
| Heavy Sixer, new | $450.00 |
| Light Sixer, loose | $48.22 |
| Light Sixer, complete in box (CIB) | $130.79 |
| Light Sixer, new | $196.00 |
These figures are estimates from a price guide, not an appraisal, buyer offer, or promise of what an individual system will sell for. Check PriceCharting’s Atari 2600 guide for current entries and recent sold examples before setting a price; values can change as listings and sales change.
Why the exact model and condition matter
Heavy Sixer versus Light Sixer
PriceCharting lists the two models separately, and their guide values differ considerably. Identify the specific console before using a figure: a Heavy Sixer value should not be applied to a Light Sixer, or vice versa.

Loose, complete in box, and new
The guide’s completeness categories are not interchangeable. “Loose” is the guide’s category for a console without complete-in-box status; “complete in box” and “new” are separate entries. Match the category as closely as possible rather than assuming that a box or an unused appearance automatically qualifies an item as new.
Working status, wear, and accessories
For a fair comparison with a sold listing, describe whether the console works, its physical condition, and what is included—such as controllers, power supply, box, or manuals. The guide figures establish model and completeness distinctions, but they do not provide a numerical adjustment formula for wear, operation, accessories, shipping, location, or selling fees. Do not treat an unsupported premium or discount as a precise valuation.

How to estimate what your console could sell for
- Identify the model. Determine whether the system is a Heavy Sixer or Light Sixer before selecting a guide entry.
- Record what is included. Note controllers, power supply, packaging, and manuals, and state whether the console has been tested and works.
- Choose the closest completeness category. Compare loose with loose, CIB with CIB, and new with new; do not use an asking price as evidence of a completed sale.
- Compare recent sold examples. Review completed sales for the same model and similar contents and condition. Active listings show what sellers are asking, not what buyers paid.
- Set a realistic listing price. Use guide values and comparable sales as reference points, then account for the specific item and any selling or shipping costs you expect to bear.
Is the Atari 2600+ the same thing?
No. Atari’s official storefront lists the Atari 2600+ at $129.99 and describes it as a current console compatible with Atari 2600 and 7800 games, with HDMI and widescreen mode for modern televisions. It is a modern alternative for playing compatible games, not a vintage 2600 resale valuation. Its price and availability may change. See Atari’s official Atari 2600+ listing.
