Miller investigates with Father William, a former prison chaplain who heard Father Sunday’s final confession, and Gina Restrepo, a rookie detective. The studio’s synopsis says their investigation links a lineage of serial killers—from H. H. Holmes to the Zodiac—and raises the possibility of an evil beyond the mortal. These are elements of the film’s fictional plot, not claims about real crimes or the historical figures named.
