Invis-A-Rack left Shark Tank without a deal, but it did not disappear after the episode. Inventor Donny McCall declined to pursue overseas manufacturing; in 2012, truck-accessory maker Dee Zee took an exclusive worldwide license and assumed manufacturing, marketing, and distribution. Later trade reporting said Dee Zee sold more units in three months than McCall had sold in the previous three years. That is a historical sales report, not proof of current stock.
Did Invis-A-Rack get a deal on Shark Tank?
No. McCall asked the Sharks for $100,000 in exchange for 10% of the company, but left without an investment. ABC News reported that the discussion turned on whether to move production overseas, which McCall was unwilling to do. He explained his position in May 2012: “It’s not just about profit.”
During the pitch, Kevin O’Leary contrasted an estimated $250 domestic manufacturing cost with a hypothetical $150 overseas cost at a quantity of 1,000 units. Those were O’Leary’s figures in the televised negotiation, as quoted by ABC News; they should not be read as audited production costs or as costs McCall actually incurred.
Who took over Invis-A-Rack after the show?
Dee Zee announced on August 30, 2012, that it had acquired exclusive worldwide license rights to Invis-A-Rack and would immediately take over manufacturing, marketing, and distribution. McCall said Dee Zee had been on his radar as a natural fit for years, but the company contacted him after his episode aired. The announcement establishes a licensing and operating arrangement; it does not establish that Dee Zee bought McCall’s company outright.

Dee Zee’s announcement documents the license. In 2014, Assembly Magazine reported that Dee Zee sold more Invis-A-Racks in its first three months than McCall had sold in the preceding three years. That comparison describes the early period after the license, not current sales.
What is Invis-A-Rack?
Invis-A-Rack is a collapsible rack for a pickup truck bed, intended to carry long cargo such as kayaks, ladders, and lumber. ABC’s episode page also says McCall had received Popular Mechanics’ Best New Product of the Year for 2010; that award claim is attributable to ABC’s page.

Dee Zee’s 2014 installation manual identifies models DZ 951550, DZ 951600, and DZ 951800, with instructions for 5.5-, 6-, and 8-foot bed applications. Those model and bed-length references are not a promise that a particular rack fits every truck. Check the truck’s make, model, and bed length against the relevant manufacturer fitment information before buying.
What load and safety limits does the manual give?
Dee Zee’s installation manual says the load should never exceed 500 lb and should be evenly distributed and secured. That is the manual’s stated maximum; it is not a guarantee that every truck or cargo setup can safely carry that weight.

- Secure cargo to the truck bed’s factory tie-downs, not to the rack’s rail clamps.

The manual is dated 2014. Use current manufacturer fitment and safety information for a purchase or installation decision rather than assuming its specifications or applications remain unchanged.

The documented history supports saying that Dee Zee licensed the product and took over its manufacturing and distribution in 2012. It does not establish the current corporate status of the Invis-A-Rack line or whether a particular model is presently sold.
