Case IH’s May 3, 2022 update described comfort and visibility changes for Model Year 2022 Maxxum and Puma tractors: a leather-bound steering wheel and cab cool box, plus LED beacon lights, new rearview mirrors and low-mount wipers. The announcement also mentioned earlier changes to the Puma 150 and 165; those were 2021 updates, not new features for 2022.
What changed on the 2022 Maxxum and Puma?
Case IH presented the May 2022 refresh as a set of cab-comfort and visibility improvements for Model Year 2022 tractors in both series. The company described the features; its announcement did not provide independent comparative test results for comfort, productivity, fuel economy or operating-cost savings.
| Area | Update described by Case IH |
|---|---|
| Cab comfort | Leather-bound steering wheel and a cool box |
| Visibility | LED beacon lights, new rearview mirrors and low-mount wipers |
These are the updates identified in Case IH’s May 3, 2022 announcement. The description does not establish that every market, trim or configuration received every feature, so buyers comparing a particular tractor should confirm its equipment against the machine’s regional specification and build details.
Which changes were earlier Puma updates?
The same announcement pointed to 2021 improvements specific to the Puma 150 and Puma 165: a redesigned hood with improved lighting and Hi-eSCR2 emissions technology. These belong to the earlier Puma update, rather than the Model Year 2022 comfort and visibility list.

How does the Puma 260 CVXDrive fit into the timeline?
Case IH announced the Puma 260 CVXDrive separately on November 7, 2022, for SIMA. It was a later flagship-model reveal, not the May refresh applied across the Maxxum and Puma series. Case IH listed 260 hp rated power, 280 hp maximum power and up to 302 hp with Engine Power Management for PTO, hydraulic or transport work. Those figures describe the Puma 260 CVXDrive in the manufacturer’s launch announcement; they should not be treated as specifications for every Puma.
What specifications depend on region and model?
Current U.S. Maxxum range
Case IH’s current U.S. Maxxum page lists models 115, 125, 135, 145 and 150, with 116–150 rated hp and 95–125 PTO hp. It describes 4.5 L four-cylinder and 6.7 L six-cylinder engines and three transmission options: ActiveDrive 4 semi-powershift, ActiveDrive 8 dual-clutch and CVXDrive continuously variable. These are current page details, not a year-specific confirmation of the full 2022 lineup. Consult the U.S. Maxxum series specifications for current configurations.

2022 UK and European Puma range
Case IH’s pre-season 2022 UK/European product-range page grouped Puma tractors into X, Multicontroller and CVXDrive families, with transmission availability varying by model and family. It described the regional Puma range as 140–240 hp. That figure applies to the page’s UK/European context and should not be generalized to other markets. See the Case IH UK Puma series page for regional range information.

- Rated power and model: Confirm the tractor’s model designation and the applicable power rating.
- Transmission: Check the fitted transmission rather than assuming availability is identical across trims or regions.
- Hydraulics: Compare hydraulic flow and remote configuration with the implements or loader being used.
- Cab and visibility equipment: Confirm the steering wheel, cool box, beacon lights, mirrors and wipers on the specific machine.
- Precision technology: Check which precision-farming and data features are included or supported on that configuration.
- Loader fitment: Confirm loader compatibility and capacities for the exact tractor. Case IH lists L113 and L115 loaders for specified Maxxum configurations, but fitment should be checked for the actual machine.
Case IH’s Maxxum page links to its parts store and operator manuals. Its operator-manual updates page lists year- and model-family-specific updates, including 2022 Maxxum and Puma variants. Match the manual to the tractor’s model, transmission and region; a series-level match alone may not be sufficient.
