Is the Punjab e-taxi scheme open for applications?
There is no verified indication here that applications are open now. Dunya News reported on September 17, 2025 that the first round was accepting online applications through October 5, 2025. Dawn subsequently reported the first-batch launch in February 2026. Those dates establish the first-round timeline, but do not confirm whether Punjab has opened another round since then. Check the official Punjab E-Taxi page and look for a current, dated announcement before submitting an application.
How do I apply for the Punjab e-taxi scheme?
The first round was described as an online application process, but the sources do not establish a current application form, opening date, or complete set of instructions. Start with the official Punjab E-Taxi page and follow its current applicant instructions if a new round is announced. The Transport Department’s scheme page is also an official reference, but provides only high-level information.

Who is eligible for the Punjab e-taxi scheme?
The Punjab Portal describes the initial pilot as a Lahore program for 1,100 electric vehicles: 1,000 allocated to fleet owners and 100 to individuals. It says fleet owners must take at least 10 vehicles and individual drivers must be registered with transport network companies. These are program descriptions, not a complete current eligibility checklist; the portal information does not establish requirements such as age, residence, income, driving-licence class or application documents.

Allocation figures differ by source and date. The Punjab Portal’s overview says the 100 individual vehicles include 70 for men and 30 for women. Dawn’s February 2026 launch report instead describes a 30 percent women’s quota for the scheme. Those descriptions are not equivalent and should not be combined into a single quota figure. Check the current official applicant schedule for the rules that apply to any new round.
What is the down payment for the Punjab e-taxi scheme?
A single current down-payment amount is not established. The official supplier-registration document describes a government equity contribution, payment of bank interest on a five-year loan and coverage of registration charges. It indicates that financing applies to vehicles priced up to PKR 6.5 million; an applicant must pay any amount above that ceiling upfront. The document is a supplier-registration document, so it does not by itself establish every applicant’s final down payment or repayment schedule. See the Transport Department document and confirm exact terms in the current applicant schedule.

Dawn’s account of the February 2026 launch reported a PKR 4 billion subsidy, government coverage of 50 percent of male drivers’ down payment and 60 percent of female drivers’ down payment, and government payment of registration, fitness-test and token-tax costs. It also reported that payments run through five years. These are launch-report details, not a substitute for a current official schedule. The Punjab Portal separately lists a PKR 3.5 billion subsidy, so the two published subsidy figures should be treated as descriptions from different sources and dates, not silently reconciled.

The scheme is presented as a 1,100-vehicle Lahore pilot. The Punjab Portal says charging stations are being set up at key locations but does not identify a charging network or coverage map. Dawn reported that taxis in the first batch had panic buttons linked to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority and were being registered with InDrive and Yango.

The Transport Department’s supplier-registration document requires suppliers to offer six-year battery and motor/controller warranties and commit to genuine spare-parts availability for six years. That is a supplier requirement; it is not confirmation of the final warranty terms for every vehicle delivered. Before choosing a vehicle under any reopened round, verify the approved model and supplier, amount payable above the financing ceiling, loan schedule, warranty documents and practical access to charging.
