The headline “Cloud News: CA Rolls Out CloudMinder Update” refers to a February 13, 2013 Data Center Knowledge news item, not a current product launch. Contemporary coverage describes CA CloudMinder as an enterprise identity-management service that added support for Facebook and Google identities and could be deployed in the cloud, on premises, or in a hybrid setup. The exact change list in the Data Center Knowledge article cannot be confirmed because its article body is unavailable.

What was CA CloudMinder?

CA CloudMinder was CA Technologies’ identity and access-management offering delivered as software and a service. Its purpose was to help organizations manage user identities and control access to business applications. CA described it as “Identity and Access Management as a Service” in a 2011 announcement (CA Technologies announcement).

The product also has a documented successor lineage: Broadcom identifies CA Identity Manager SaaS as the product formerly called CA CloudMinder Identity Management (Broadcom product material). That lineage does not establish the current availability or support status of every CloudMinder feature or service.

What did the 2013 update add?

TechRadar’s February 2013 coverage reports that CA added support for social identities, including Facebook and Google. It also describes CloudMinder as available as an on-premises solution, a cloud application, or a hybrid combining the two. The report says the service had more than 30 provisioning connections, including Office 365, mainframes, and other business applications (TechRadar, February 2013).

These are contemporaneous reported capabilities, not a verified list of every change in the Data Center Knowledge article or a statement of present-day availability. The Data Center Knowledge record identifies the article’s author as John Rath and its publication date as February 13, 2013, but the article body is not available to confirm its precise update notes.

How did CloudMinder fit different deployments?

The 2013 coverage did not describe CloudMinder as cloud-only. It reported three deployment choices: on-premises, cloud, and hybrid. That distinction mattered for organizations that wanted managed identity services while retaining some systems or controls within their own environment.

TechRadar quoted Colin Bannister, then CA Technologies’ CTO and vice president for the UK and Ireland, saying: “Our history with on-premise was targeted on large organisations, but this takes us down to any size of organisation.” The article also reported a 3,000-user minimum for direct sales from CA at that time. That figure is historical reporting, not a current sales threshold or pricing term.

What do the version notes document?

CA’s release notes record other versioned changes around the same product period. Version 1.51 allowed new installations to use PostgreSQL as an alternative runtime and report database. Version 1.52 moved the audit-log table from CLOUDMINDERACCESSLOG4 to SMACCESSLOG4 (CA CloudMinder release notes).

These release-note entries are specific technical changes; they should not be mistaken for a confirmed item-by-item breakdown of the February 13 news story.

Is CloudMinder still available?

The available documentation establishes a product lineage from CA CloudMinder Identity Management to CA Identity Manager SaaS, but it does not verify current availability, sales options, or support status. Readers evaluating an identity service today should check Broadcom’s current product and support information rather than rely on 2013 reports or historical release notes.
