Atlanta is Delta’s largest hub, but the airline also identifies a wider mix of U.S. and international cities as “significant hubs and key markets” on its current corporate facts page. Those labels describe different things, so the broader list should not be read as a list of domestic hubs.
How Delta’s hub system works
A hub-and-spoke network brings flights from multiple origins together at connecting airports, where travelers can transfer to onward flights. Delta’s 2021 Form 10-K says regional carriers operating as Delta Connection feed traffic to its domestic hubs. The filing describes the core hubs as having strong local passenger share, while coastal hubs provide a presence in large revenue markets and support growth in premium products and international service. These are Delta’s descriptions in its 2021 filing, not a current airport-by-airport performance ranking.
Which airports were Delta’s core and coastal hubs?
Delta’s 2021 Form 10-K grouped its U.S. hubs into two categories:
| Category in Delta’s 2021 filing | Airports | Geographic or market role |
|---|---|---|
| Core domestic hubs | Atlanta (ATL), Minneapolis–St. Paul (MSP), Detroit (DTW), Salt Lake City (SLC) | Delta characterized these as core positions with strong local passenger share. |
| Coastal hubs | Boston (BOS), Los Angeles (LAX), New York-JFK (JFK), New York-LaGuardia (LGA), Seattle (SEA) | Delta said these hubs provide a presence in large revenue markets and enable growth in premium products and international service. |

What does Delta’s current broader list mean?
Delta’s current Corporate Stats and Facts page uses the combined phrase “significant hubs and key markets.” It lists Amsterdam, Atlanta, Bogotá, Boston, Detroit, Lima, London-Heathrow, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Minneapolis–St. Paul, New York-JFK and LaGuardia, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Salt Lake City, Santiago, São Paulo, Seattle, Seoul-Incheon and Tokyo.
That combined wording matters: it does not call every location on the page a domestic hub. The list includes both U.S. airports and international cities, and it combines “hubs” with “key markets.” For the more specific core-versus-coastal domestic categories, the cited classification is Delta’s 2021 filing.

Is Atlanta Delta’s largest hub?
Yes. Delta identifies Atlanta as its largest hub and its headquarters. On its corporate facts page, Delta calls Atlanta the “world’s largest airline hub and most-traveled airport.” That superlative is Delta’s own description, not an independently established comparison in the cited materials.
The same page says Delta operates up to 5,500 daily Delta and Delta Connection flights to more than 300 destinations on six continents, and served more than 200 million customers in 2025. These are system-wide figures published by Delta; they do not mean those flights all pass through Atlanta. Delta’s page was accessed Oct. 7, 2026.

What current airport services illustrate the network?
On Dec. 19, 2025, Delta announced dedicated Delta One check-in areas at ATL, BOS, DTW, LAX, MSP, JFK, SLC and SEA. Delta says the spaces offer personalized assistance, expedited check-in and bag drop, seating and light refreshments. Access is for same-day departing Delta One customers, business-class customers on select Delta partners, and Delta 360 members, according to Delta’s announcement.
This is an example of a premium airport service at select locations, not a complete hub list or a benefit available to every traveler connecting through those airports. Facility access and amenities can change.
