No verified personal net worth has been published for Shilen Patel or his father, Dr Kiran C. Patel. Secondary reports have put Shilen at about $100 million and Kiran at about $400 million, but those are unaudited estimates. A separate figure of roughly $2 billion refers to family-office assets, not a personal fortune. Treat all three as reported numbers, not disclosed wealth.
Why the reported figures are not personal net worth
Three different numbers circulate around the Patel family, and they measure different things. Mixing them up is the most common error in coverage of this topic.

Capital deployed is a flow: money put into investments over time. Family-office assets are a stock held by a vehicle that may include other family members. Personal net worth is what an individual owns after debts, and it depends on a valuation that someone has to produce and publish. None of the sources reviewed for this article supplies that valuation for either Patel.
What the club’s ownership records establish
The ownership facts are firmer than the wealth figures, and they show how the Patels hold the club rather than what they are worth.

The completion announcement named Shilen Patel as club chairman and said Bilkul Football WBA was ultimately owned by Shilen and his father. The current disclosure lists both men as holders of an indirect significant interest in Bilkul. The two percentages are from different dates and should be quoted with their dates; the increase from 87.8% to 93.9% is not explained in the sources reviewed.
The club’s 2025 chairman’s letter explains the owner’s motivation. Shilen Patel wrote that his “dominant consideration in becoming the custodian of the Albion was its precarious financial and regulatory position, which demanded not just massive funding but also urgent attention and direct, personal investment.” That passage describes the club’s position and the scale of commitment it required. It does not establish the owner’s private wealth.

How to judge any Patel net worth figure
Use these checks before repeating a number:
- Is it personal or family-wide? A figure for “the family office” or “the Patel family” is not an individual’s net worth.
- Who produced it? A primary disclosure comes from the person, company or office itself. A secondary estimate cites someone else’s reporting, and that chain should be followed to its origin.
- When was it produced? Wealth estimates are snapshots. A 2024 figure does not reflect later investments, the club’s financing, or changes in valuation.
- What does it measure? Net worth, assets under management, and capital deployed are different quantities and cannot be added or compared directly.
What would settle the question
A verified personal net worth would require a published personal financial statement, an audited account tying the individual to specific holdings, or a valuation by a reputable wealth-ranking organisation that explains its method. None of these was located for either Shilen or Kiran Patel, so the answer remains that no authoritative figure exists in the public record checked for this article.
The verifiable facts are the takeover date, the holding structure through Bilkul Football WBA, the two shareholding percentages with their dates, and the family office’s stated investment activity. Anything beyond that should be attributed to the reporter who published it.
