An unnamed West Australian won Division 1 in Set for Life, according to a PerthNow report published on 21 October 2024. The winning ticket was bought at Labouchere Newsagency in Como. The report described the prize as $20,000 a month for 20 years; Lotterywest’s current Division 1 terms also include an upfront payment.
What PerthNow reported about the 2024 win
PerthNow reported that the ticket sold at Labouchere Newsagency in Como won Division 1 in Set for Life. The story did not identify the winner or provide the draw number or winning numbers. No occupation, plans or personal circumstances for the winner were reported. PerthNow’s report, 21 October 2024.
Lotterywest spokesman James Mooney described it as the state’s fourth Set for Life Division 1 win between August and October 2024: “It’s been a stellar three months for WA as we celebrate four Set for Life division one wins between August and October,” he said.
How the prize description differs from today’s offer
The $20,000-a-month wording belongs to the 2024 report. Lotterywest’s game page, checked on 8 October 2026, lists the current Division 1 prize as $200,000 upfront plus $20,000 per month for 20 years, a stated total of $5 million per winner. The current terms limit the number of full prizes to four; if there are more winners, the prize pool is shared. These current terms should not be applied retroactively to the 2024 win. Lotterywest’s update announced enhanced prizes from 14 September 2026, subject to regulatory approval, and a ticket-price change from 60 cents to 70 cents per game, plus retailer commission. How Set for Life works
