Welnax BioClear has not been shown to cure an active toenail fungal infection. The available product-specific evidence does not establish that it works, and a device that may improve a nail’s appearance is not necessarily treating the fungus. That makes BioClear an unproven purchase for infection treatment—not a proven cure, and not something the available evidence justifies calling a hoax.
What is Welnax BioClear?
Welnax promotional releases describe BioClear as an at-home light-based or laser device for toenails. The seller’s messaging is inconsistent: a May 2025 release says the product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease, while other promotional copy makes stronger claims about treating fungus. The practical question is whether BioClear has been shown to clear an active fungal infection. A clearer-looking nail alone would not answer that question: infection eradication and appearance improvement are different outcomes.
Is Welnax BioClear FDA-approved to treat nail fungus?
The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) says: “The FDA has approved laser treatment to improve the look of a nail after the fungal infection has cleared. It has not approved any laser to treat the infection.” The AAD also says well-designed clinical trials are needed to determine which lasers can safely and effectively get rid of nail fungus. FDA guidance makes an important distinction between devices marketed for visual improvement and devices intended to treat onychomycosis, the medical term for nail fungus. Its March 2016 guidance gives “temporary increase of clear nail” as an example of a visual-improvement indication. A clearance for appearance is not evidence that an infection has been cured, and clearance for a different model would not establish BioClear’s status or effectiveness. In an August 2026 review, iTechGuides reported that it found no BioClear clinical-trial report, peer-reviewed product study, or FDA record authorizing treatment of active infection. What does the clinical evidence say about laser treatment?
Evidence about other laser systems cannot establish that this particular consumer device works. A 2020 Cochrane review assessed three studies involving 112 participants that compared 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser treatment with no treatment or a sham procedure. In two studies with 85 participants, the estimate for mycological cure at 52 weeks was RR 1.04 (95% CI 0.59 to 1.85), with low-quality evidence suggesting little or no difference. The same review found stronger evidence for efinaconazole 10% solution compared with its vehicle: complete cure RR 3.54 (95% CI 2.24 to 5.60) across three studies with 1,716 participants, and clinical cure RR 3.07 (95% CI 2.08 to 4.53) across two studies with 1,655 participants. These are comparative trial results, not a promise of an individual outcome or a recommendation that a particular treatment is right for you. Should you buy BioClear?
If you are buying it specifically to eradicate an active fungal infection, the evidence available does not support treating BioClear as a proven solution. No independent BioClear success-rate statistic is established in the cited sources, so seller testimonials or promotional claims about users should not be read as verified cure rates.
The decision is especially difficult to evaluate financially because the cited sources do not verify BioClear’s current price, warranty, return terms, or a specific current marketplace listing. Check the exact seller’s terms and the model’s intended use before paying; do not assume a return policy or regulatory status based on a different listing or device.
