The Albion Foundation received a £10,000 grant from the Sky Bet EFL Building Foundations Fund to support its weekly Pan Disability football sessions, West Bromwich Albion reported on 8 January 2025. The club said the funding enabled free attendance, helped the Foundation support more people and would contribute to coaching, equipment and session-fee costs.
What the grant was intended to fund
The grant supported weekly Pan Disability football sessions for people with disabilities in the local area. The Albion Foundation is West Bromwich Albion’s charitable arm. In its 8 January 2025 announcement, the club said the money helped make attendance free and expand the number of people the Foundation could support.
The Foundation also said it would use the funding to improve coaching quality and equipment and to subsidise monthly fees. The announcement does not name particular equipment purchases or set out how the grant was divided among those costs.
How the sessions aim to reduce barriers
Free access and broader participation
Removing attendance costs was the clearest immediate change described by the club. West Brom said participants could attend free following the funding, making the sessions more accessible to people who might otherwise face a financial barrier. Its 1 April 2025 year-in-review also records the £10,000 grant and says it supported development of the weekly sessions so participants could attend free: the Foundation Day retrospective.

Improved coaching and equipment were stated aims for the funding. The club did not identify specific purchases, coaching changes or measurable improvements resulting from the grant, so those aims should not be mistaken for independently verified outcomes.
A social space at The Hawthorns
The announcement also describes a social hub at The Hawthorns, where participants could meet for quizzes and other activities before training. The space offered a way to connect outside the football session, including when poor weather made outdoor activity less practical.

He described participants being welcomed and having the opportunity to be themselves. These comments give personal perspective on the programme; they are testimony reported by the club, not an independent evaluation of the grant’s effects.
