Separate reporting said Mediatonic had been hit hard, but the sources do not establish how many studio employees were affected or how many work there now.
What happened in September 2023?
On September 28, 2023, Epic Games announced company-wide cuts of around 830 employees, or 16% of its jobs. Those figures applied to Epic overall—not to Mediatonic specifically. Epic also said it would continue investing in Fall Guys. Epic’s September 2023 announcement
The next day, VGC reported that Mediatonic had been hit very hard, attributing that characterization to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier. VGC also reported early claims that the entire team would be laid off. Epic’s spokesperson rejected that specific claim, saying, “This is false,” and that “Mediatonic’s work on Fall Guys continues to be a company priority”. VGC’s September 29, 2023 report
The distinction matters: the report of severe impact was not a published Mediatonic headcount, and Epic’s denial addressed the claim that the whole team was being let go. Neither establishes the exact number of Mediatonic employees affected.

How does the 2026 layoff round fit in?
On March 24, 2026, Epic announced a separate round of more than 1,000 layoffs, citing reduced Fortnite engagement beginning in 2025 and cost pressures. The announcement gives an Epic-wide figure; it does not identify Mediatonic’s share or say that the studio closed. Epic’s March 2026 announcement
That later company-wide announcement should not be treated as confirmation of the 2023 claim or as evidence of Mediatonic’s current staffing. The available statements do not provide a studio-specific breakdown for either round.

What is known about Mediatonic’s size and current status?
Mediatonic announced it was joining Epic in March 2021. At the time, it said the Fall Guys team had grown from 35 people to more than 150 after the game’s breakout. That is a historical figure from 2021, not a headcount for 2023 or 2026. Mediatonic’s 2021 announcement
