Yes—Cyber Monday 2024 set a U.S. online-spending record in Adobe Analytics’ reporting, with shoppers spending $13.3 billion online. But it is no longer the record: Adobe later reported $14.25 billion for Cyber Monday 2025. Adobe’s forecast that 2026 spending will exceed $15 billion is still a projection, not a completed result.
What Adobe meant by the 2024 record
Adobe Analytics estimated that U.S. consumers spent $13.3 billion online on Cyber Monday, December 2, 2024. That was 7.3% more than on Cyber Monday 2023 and exceeded Adobe’s initial $13.2 billion projection. The figure describes online spending in the United States, not global retail sales or all purchases made in stores.

Adobe said its analysis covered more than one trillion visits to U.S. retail sites, 100 million stock-keeping units (SKUs) and 18 product categories. Those figures describe Adobe’s dataset; they are not an independently audited count of every retailer or transaction. Adobe’s December 3, 2024 recap is the source for the estimate and its stated scope.
How Cyber Monday compared with the rest of Cyber Week
Cyber Monday had the highest single-day online-spending total in Adobe’s 2024 account, but it did not have the fastest year-over-year growth among the main shopping days. Adobe reported:
#1 Best Overall
- Keep track of everything from attendance to test scores
- Spiral bound
- Measures 8-1/2" x 11"
| Period | U.S. online spending | Year-over-year change |
|---|---|---|
| Thanksgiving 2024 | $6.1 billion | Up 8.8% |
| Black Friday 2024 | $10.8 billion | Up 10.2% |
| Cyber Monday 2024 | $13.3 billion | Up 7.3% |
| Cyber Week 2024 (Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday) | $41.1 billion | Up 8.2% |
The Cyber Week amount covers five days, so it is not directly comparable to a single day’s total. The growth percentages answer a different question: how much spending changed from the corresponding period a year earlier. Vivek Pandya, lead analyst at Adobe Digital Insights, said Cyber Monday remained “the season’s and year’s biggest online shopping day,” while growth was stronger on Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Adobe’s recap contains the figures and statement.
What shoppers spent on and how they paid
Adobe reported that mobile devices accounted for 57% of Cyber Monday 2024 online sales, or $7.6 billion; mobile sales rose 13.3% year over year. Buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) spending reached $991.2 million, up 5.5%, and 75.2% of BNPL transactions were made on mobile. These measures describe different things: mobile’s share is a channel measure, while BNPL is a payment method.

Adobe listed toys, gaming consoles, computers and laptops, digital cameras, televisions, Bluetooth headphones and speakers, and smart watches among the event’s top-selling categories or products. Its console examples included the Nintendo Switch OLED, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Meta Quest; these are examples of products Adobe identified as top sellers in 2024, not current buying recommendations or deal claims.
Adobe also reported peak discounts of 30.1% off listed prices for electronics, 26.1% for toys, 23.2% for apparel, 21.8% for televisions and 21.5% for computers. These were event-level peak discounts in Adobe’s 2024 report, not a promise that any particular item was discounted by that amount.

Is Cyber Monday still the biggest online shopping day?
Not by Adobe’s latest completed result in the cited figures. Adobe reported $14.25 billion in U.S. online spending for Cyber Monday 2025, up 7.1% year over year, surpassing the 2024 total. It also reported $44.2 billion across Cyber Week 2025. See Adobe’s December 2, 2025 recap.
Adobe’s September 2026 release forecasts that Cyber Monday spending will exceed $15 billion and says it is expected to remain the season’s biggest online shopping day. That figure is an expectation, not an actual result: Cyber Monday 2026 has not yet taken place. Adobe’s 2026 forecast should be read accordingly.

What the record does—and does not—tell consumers
A record total is an estimate of aggregate spending, not evidence that every shopper spent more or that every deal represented a good value. Adobe’s reporting describes online retail activity across its measured U.S. dataset; it does not establish an individual household’s budget, savings, or purchasing behavior. For personal-finance decisions, the useful takeaway is to judge a purchase against your own budget and the item’s actual price, rather than treating a high national spending total as a reason to buy.
