They were separate virtual worlds with different activities and rewards—not a single shopping experience. The announcement does not establish whether either world is playable today.
What Walmart announced in 2022
Walmart introduced both experiences on September 26, 2022. In its announcement, Walmart U.S. chief marketing officer William White described the plan as “creating community, content, entertainment and games” in virtual worlds. The company said Roblox had more than 52 million daily users globally at the time; that was Walmart’s historical figure in 2022, not a current audience count. Walmart’s announcement

The activities and rewards in the table describe the worlds as announced, not measured engagement or a guarantee that every feature remained available later. TechCrunch’s September 26, 2022 coverage also described mechanics such as the avatar Hub Store and token redemption.
What each experience was designed to do
Walmart Land: style and entertainment
Walmart Land presented the brand through fashion and entertainment activities rather than a conventional product catalogue. The dressing room and pose challenge connected avatar styling with interactive play, while the dance challenge, piano walkway and planned concert added music-focused attractions. “Verch” referred to digital avatar merchandise, not physical clothing.

Universe of Play: games and collecting
Universe of Play was oriented around toy-themed challenges and recognizable properties. Its announced loop combined games, collectible virtual toys and earned in-experience currency for avatar goods. That made it distinct from Walmart Land’s focus on style and music, even though both offered digital items for avatars.
Later Walmart and Roblox developments are separate
Walmart announced a different Roblox experience, Walmart Discovered, on September 26, 2023. It was described as a community-oriented place to discover games, creators and virtual items, with access for people aged 13 and older, a nomination system and creator monetization through Robux. Roblox later announced Commerce APIs for physical-product purchases in eligible experiences on May 15, 2025. Its initial rollout was for U.S. users aged 13 and older, with Shopify as its first integrated partner, alongside an Approved Merchandiser Program. The available sources do not establish whether Walmart Land or Walmart’s Universe of Play is currently playable, or whether their launch activities remained unchanged after release. The 2022 announcement is evidence of what Walmart planned at launch, not current availability. Check Roblox directly for any present-day listings rather than assuming either world is still open or has been permanently closed.
