Walmart+ has added participating CITGO stations to its Gas Savings benefit. Walmart says the expansion brings the network to more than 17,000 stations across the United States, where members can get a stated 10¢-per-gallon discount. To use the benefit at CITGO, activate it in the Walmart app and link a Club CITGO account; not every CITGO location participates.
What changed for Walmart+ members?
In an announcement dated September 14, 2026, Walmart said CITGO joined the participating fuel network, expanding it from 13,000 to more than 17,000 U.S. stations—an increase Walmart described as approximately 30%. The participating network includes Walmart, Exxon, Mobil, Murphy and now select CITGO locations. Walmart+ members can also buy fuel at Sam’s Club at Sam’s Club member prices; that is a separate pricing benefit.

Walmart’s help page still describes savings at over 13,000 stations across Exxon, Mobil, Walmart and Murphy, and does not reflect the separately announced CITGO expansion. For the post-expansion total, Walmart’s September 14 announcement is the current figure. Find participating locations in the Walmart app rather than assuming every station displaying one of these brands qualifies.
How much can you save at CITGO?
Walmart advertises a 10¢-per-gallon saving at participating stations. The amount is not universal: Walmart’s help page notes that select stations in Alabama offer 5¢ per gallon, and its terms say the discount can vary by location and state law and may change. CITGO Gas Savings applies to no more than 30 gallons per transaction.

The discount comes off a station’s own base price. Walmart says third-party providers set their retail prices, so a participating CITGO station’s price after the discount is not necessarily lower than the cash price at a nearby competitor. Compare the posted price and the price after savings before choosing where to fill up.
How to use the Walmart+ gas discount at CITGO
- Sign in to the Walmart app and open Gas Savings in the member hub.
- Select CITGO, then create or link a Club CITGO account as prompted.
- At a participating CITGO station, enter the phone number linked to Club CITGO—your Alt ID—on the pump keypad. If paying cash, enter the Alt ID on the station’s inside pin pad.
- Select your fuel grade and pump. The qualifying discount is applied automatically, up to the 30-gallon transaction limit.
Use the Walmart app to check that the location participates before fueling. Walmart’s terms say fraud controls or operational issues can also prevent a discount from applying.

Fuel procedures and eligibility differ by station type. For Exxon and Mobil, ExxonMobil specifically says the Walmart app must be used and its own Rewards+ offers cannot be stacked with the Walmart+ discount. At any third-party location, confirm the net price and participation in the app before you start pumping.

Walmart says members with at least 12 months of membership who used Gas Savings at least once a week from March 2025 through March 2026 averaged $109 in annual savings. Walmart says its estimate compares member results with non-member prices or fees. It is a conditional average for that group, not a guarantee of what an individual member will save, and it predates CITGO’s addition to the network.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that households spent more than $2,600 on gasoline and other fuels in 2024. That figure gives context for why fuel savings can matter to a household budget, but it is not an estimate of Walmart+ savings.
