We could not confirm a Walmart offer selling a $50 Nintendo eShop card for $40 during the week of October 8, 2026. No Walmart promotion page, offer terms, end date, or purchase limit for that price is available to cite. Walmart’s listings for the card show a $50 price, and the physical version was marked out of stock when its listing was reviewed. Treat the $40 price as unverified until you see it on a Walmart page at checkout.
What is confirmed about the $40 price
A March 2026 community discussion mentioned a Walmart $50 card selling for $40. That post is useful as history: it shows that discounts on this card have appeared before. It does not show that a discount is running in October 2026, and it does not establish the market, dates, or eligibility of any offer. Discount prices on gift cards also change quickly and can differ by store, account, or delivery option, so a price seen in one place may not appear in another.

What Walmart’s listings show
Walmart sells the card in two formats. The table below shows what the listings displayed when reviewed. It does not show promotional terms, because none were published on the pages reviewed.
| Listing | Denomination | Price shown | Stock status | Promotion terms and end date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nintendo eShop $50 Gift Card [Physical] | $50 | $50 | Out of stock when reviewed | Not stated |
| Nintendo eShop $50 eGift Card [Digital] | $50 | $50 | Not stated | Not stated |
A physical card needs to be shipped or picked up, so stock matters if you want it quickly. A digital eGift card is delivered electronically, but the listing reviewed did not state delivery timing. Check both points before you pay.

How to check the offer yourself
- Search Walmart.com for “Nintendo eShop $50” and open the physical or digital listing that matches the format you want.
- Confirm the displayed price is $40 and that the denomination says $50. A listing that shows $50 at a $40 price is not the same as a $50 card sold at a discount.
- Add the item to your cart and compare the cart price with the listing price. Some discounts appear only at checkout, and some do not apply to every account.
- Look for a promotion notice or terms on the product page or in the cart. If none is shown, the discount is not documented on that page.
- For a physical card, check the stock status and shipping estimate before paying. For a digital card, confirm the delivery method on the order summary.
- Check your location. Walmart pricing and availability can vary by store and region, so a price visible in one area may not be visible in another.
What the card can be used for
Nintendo’s official terms, the Nintendo eShop Card Terms and Conditions, say the balance can be redeemed through a Nintendo Account on Nintendo eShop and other Nintendo shopping services for games and other content. The terms also set the following conditions:
- The balance is valid only for U.S. accounts.
- Redeeming the code requires internet access and associates the balance with the Nintendo Account used. After code entry, the balance is account-bound and cannot be transferred.
- The balance does not expire, and there are no fees associated with the code.
- The card is non-reloadable.
- The balance cannot be redeemed for cash or refunded, except where required by law.
Nintendo’s terms state: “Code balance does not expire, and there are no fees associated with the code. This card is non-reloadable.” (Nintendo, Nintendo eShop Card Terms and Conditions)

- The perfect gift for anyone who loves to play—including you. Choose from over 1,000 new, classic and indie games – delivered directly to your Nintendo Switch, Wii U or Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
- Nintendo eShop Digital Cards are redeemable only through the Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
- Digital Card balances can be shared across Nintendo Switch, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family of systems, but may only be used on a single Nintendo eShop account.
Because the balance is tied to one account after redemption, confirm that the account you plan to use is a U.S. Nintendo Account before you enter the code.
Can you use it to buy a Switch 2 from Nintendo’s website?
A community question from March 2026 asked whether these cards could be used on Nintendo’s website to order a Switch 2. That question came from a user, not from Nintendo, so it is not guidance. Nintendo’s terms cover games and other content on Nintendo eShop and other Nintendo shopping services. The terms available for this article do not state that the card can be used to buy console hardware. Check the current terms and the checkout page for the specific item before assuming a card will cover it.

Bottom line for buyers
A $50 card at a $50 price is a normal purchase. A $50 card at $40 is a discount that the sources available here do not confirm for this week. Buy at $40 only if the Walmart product page or checkout shows that price with a clear denomination, stock status, and delivery method, and keep the account-region and non-transferable terms in mind before you enter the code.
