Lotterywest had not identified that winner four days after the draw was announced. The article is a snapshot from 2023: it does not establish who eventually won or whether any of the prizes remain unclaimed today.
What the March 2023 report said about the $40 million prize
PerthNow reported that the $40 million Powerball ticket had been sold in the Perth metropolitan area and was not registered through Lotterywest’s Player’s Registration Service. Lotterywest did not know the winner’s identity when the story was published. The article also ruled out Boulder Newsagency based on the reported metropolitan sale location.
Those details describe what was known at the time; they do not identify the eventual winner or establish the prize’s present status.
Which other prizes were reported as unclaimed?
The five prizes of at least $1 million comprised the Powerball prize and four other prizes described in the report. Three were $1.25 million tickets from February’s Saturday Lotto Superdraw: two sold at Pharmacy 777 in East Perth and one at The Lucky Charm in Willetton. A Lotterywest spokesperson also said an online ticket from the preceding Saturday’s draw, worth more than $1.3 million, had not been claimed.

What the report said about claiming a prize
PerthNow said winners had 12 months from the draw to claim prizes at Lotterywest’s Subiaco head office, and that unclaimed prize money went toward community grants. These are rules and arrangements reported in 2023, not verified current instructions. Anyone checking a Lotterywest prize now should confirm the applicable deadline and claim process directly with Lotterywest before relying on that account.
The Kalgoorlie syndicate dispute mentioned as context
The article also referred to a $120 million Kalgoorlie draw. It said a local winning ticket represented a $63 million share for a 250-person syndicate, or $261,986 per member, and reported that a newsagency accused a man of claiming more than his share. These are details attributed to PerthNow’s account, not independently established findings here.

What is—and is not—known now
The March 6, 2023 story records the prizes and winner status as reported at that time. It should not be read as evidence that the winner is still unknown or that any prize remains unclaimed.
