Volvo Cars announced on June 25, 2025, that the XC60 had become its best-selling model of all time, with more than 2.7 million sold since the SUV debuted in 2008. The milestone is a cumulative-sales record—not a record for XC60 sales in 2025.
Is the Volvo XC60 Volvo’s best-selling car?
Yes. Volvo Cars said the XC60 passed the Volvo 240 to become the company’s all-time best-selling model. The announcement put cumulative XC60 sales at more than 2.7 million since its 2008 debut. Volvo did not publish a more exact cumulative count in the announcement. Volvo Cars’ June 25, 2025 announcement described the achievement as a lifetime model-sales record.
How many Volvo XC60s were sold in 2025?
Volvo Cars reported 230,655 XC60 sales in 2025, compared with 230,853 in 2024—a decrease of 198 vehicles. The XC60 still ranked as Volvo Cars’ top-selling model in 2025. These annual figures are separate from the more-than-2.7-million cumulative total. Volvo’s 2025 sales report provides the annual figures.
How did XC60 sales compare with earlier years?
Volvo’s 2025 annual report lists 230.9 thousand XC60 sales in 2024 and 228.6 thousand in 2023. The report also says Volvo Cars sold 763.4 thousand cars across its lineup in 2024, a company-wide sales record. That overall record and the XC60’s lifetime model record are different milestones. Volvo Cars’ annual reports contain the company’s reported figures.

What changed on the XC60 after the record announcement?
Volvo’s June 2025 announcement described a significant refresh for model year 2026, covering design, user experience, comfort and infotainment. The sales milestone therefore concerned a model with a long history, while the refreshed version represented an update to the current offering.
Longer-range plug-in hybrid variants
On September 15, 2026, Volvo announced long-range plug-in hybrid variants for Europe and the United States. Its US release stated up to 78 miles of electric range; its global release stated up to 200 kilometres. These are manufacturer-stated, market-specific claims, not a single universal real-world range figure. The releases do not establish an independent range comparison with rival vehicles. Volvo’s US announcement and its global announcement give the respective range claims.
