Forbes estimated Viktor Rashnikov’s net worth at $9.3 billion as of September 23, 2026. The figure is an estimate, not a verified personal balance sheet, and most of his reported wealth is tied to his stake in Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK).

How much is Viktor Rashnikov worth?

Forbes’s Europe profile result put Rashnikov’s estimated real-time net worth at $9.3 billion on September 23, 2026. Forbes’s main profile result showed the same estimate as of September 5, 2026. Because the estimate can change with MMK’s share price and valuation assumptions, the date matters. Forbes’ profile

Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index listed Rashnikov on May 7, 2026, and said most of his fortune came from a 79.8% stake in MMK. That is Bloomberg’s dated description, not a newly verified beneficial-ownership disclosure. Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index entry

What is the estimate based on?

MMK, a publicly traded steelmaker, is the principal reported source of Rashnikov’s fortune. The ownership descriptions published by the two wealth trackers differ:

Source and date Reported MMK ownership description
Bloomberg, May 7, 2026 79.8% stake; Bloomberg says it accounts for most of his fortune.
Forbes, 2026 profile Describes him as MMK’s majority owner and says he built his ownership to nearly 100% by buying shares on the market.

These descriptions should not be treated as interchangeable. The sources do not provide enough methodological detail to reconstruct either net-worth calculation or reconcile the different ownership descriptions. The $9.3 billion figure is therefore best read as a publisher’s dated estimate, rather than a precise accounting of all assets and liabilities.

Rashnikov’s career at MMK

Forbes says Rashnikov began working at MMK as a mechanic in 1967. He became the company’s CEO in 1997 and stepped down in 2011 after 14 years in the role. Forbes describes his later accumulation of shares as the route to his majority ownership. Forbes’ profile

Sanctions records are not wealth valuations

The EU’s Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/527, dated March 14, 2025, identifies Rashnikov as a Russian businessperson and describes him as MMK’s owner and board chair. The regulation sets out the EU’s reasons for listing him, including its assessment of his business role and MMK’s economic relationship with the Russian state. Those are the EU’s stated grounds for the listing, not an independent valuation of his assets. EU Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/527

A UK Companies House record lists a sanctions-related disqualification beginning April 9, 2025, under the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018. That record establishes the date and legal context of the disqualification; it does not quantify his wealth or show how the value of his MMK stake changed. Is the yacht Ocean Victory included in his net worth?

Forbes associates Rashnikov with the 460-foot yacht Ocean Victory and gives an estimated value of $240 million, but says ultimate ownership is unclear. The yacht should not be treated as a confirmed personal asset or added to the $9.3 billion estimate as though his ownership were established. Forbes’ profile

How to interpret a billionaire net-worth estimate

Forbes and Bloomberg publish estimates based on available information, not audited statements of an individual’s complete finances. For a useful comparison, keep each figure attached to its publisher and date, distinguish a real-time estimate from a dated index entry, and note the assumptions or ownership descriptions each source provides. Here, the reviewed sources do not disclose enough detail to calculate an alternative figure independently.
