Vector Remote Care announced a $12.5 million Series A on April 26, 2021, led by Updata Partners. The company said it would use the investment to expand its clinic-facing cardiac monitoring software and services, with priorities including product development, engineering, and patient engagement.
What the $12.5 million announcement covers
The figure refers to a Series A financing announced in April 2021—not a current funding round. Updata Partners led the investment. The investor’s announcement said the funding would accelerate Vector’s product, engineering, and patient engagement efforts.
GeekWire reported at the time that Vector planned to double its headcount, with hiring focused on product and engineering. That was a stated plan in 2021, not evidence of the company’s current staffing or subsequent growth.
What Vector Remote Care does
Vector sells a clinic-facing platform for managing remote cardiac-device data and associated clinic workflows. The software brings together data from cardiac devices made by other manufacturers, helps prioritize incoming reports, supports report summaries and workflows, and helps clinics keep patients connected to their care teams. Vector also offers optional service support to clinics. The company’s current site describes its present offering; it should not be read as a record of the exact product roadmap in 2021.

Software and services, not a consumer monitor
The offering is business-to-business software, available either as a software platform or with additional support services. Vector does not present itself in the cited material as the maker of a consumer cardiac monitor, implant, or patient transmitter. Its platform manages data generated by devices from other manufacturers, and the sources reviewed do not publish pricing.
Who founded the company
Kevin Hoffman founded Vector in 2017 and is identified by the company as its CEO. Vector says his family’s experience with cardiac arrest and an implanted defibrillator helped motivate his work in cardiac care. In a 2021 Crunchbase News report, Hoffman described seeing a family member’s device malfunction and deliver shocks as frightening but influential in his decision to address problems in cardiac care.

What was known about Vector’s funding at the time
Crunchbase News reported that Hoffman put Vector’s total funding at $12.9 million after the Series A. That is a figure attributed to Hoffman in contemporaneous coverage, not a verified current funding total. The sources reviewed do not establish the Series A valuation, full investment terms, current ownership, or the company’s subsequent financing history.
