Sequoia Capital led the round, which included new investments from Goldman Sachs Alternatives and J.P. Morgan. The figure was a major increase from Vanta’s previously reported $1.6 billion valuation, but it is not the company’s latest reported valuation: secondary funding records say Vanta raised a $150 million Series D at a $4.15 billion valuation in July 2025.

Existing investors that participated included Atlassian Ventures, Craft Ventures, CrowdStrike Ventures, HubSpot Ventures, Workday Ventures and Y Combinator. The $2.45 billion figure represents a post-money valuation—that is, the estimated value of the company after the new investment was included.
The Series C valuation was higher than Vanta’s previously reported $1.6 billion valuation in 2022. Reports differ on the exact size of Vanta’s 2022 financing, so it is more reliable to compare the valuations without presenting a disputed round amount as settled fact.

What Vanta does
Vanta started as a compliance-automation platform helping companies prepare for frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA. Its tools can collect evidence from connected systems, monitor controls, organize policies and support audit preparation.
By the Series C, Vanta was positioning itself more broadly as a trust-management platform. That category includes several related workflows:
- Compliance automation: evidence collection, control monitoring, policy management and audit readiness.
- Trust Centers: customer-facing pages where companies publish approved security and compliance information.
- Security questionnaires: tools that help companies respond to the reviews customers commonly require before signing contracts.
- Broader GRC: governance, risk and compliance processes that can include vendor risk, policy management and ongoing control oversight.
That distinction matters. Vanta was not simply selling a checklist for one audit. Its stated strategy was to connect internal compliance work with the customer-facing trust and security reviews that can affect sales.
Why investors backed the company
Vanta said the financing would support growth in several areas:
- Moving further upmarket toward larger and more complex customers.
- Replacing manual processes and legacy GRC tools.
- Expanding internationally, particularly in the United Kingdom and Australia.
- Developing AI-enabled products.
- Adding enterprise capabilities such as an enhanced REST API, SCIM provisioning and multi-instance integrations.
- Continuing to serve startups and smaller companies.
The investment case was therefore broader than revenue growth in audit preparation. Security reviews can delay sales, while compliance teams often manage evidence, policies and questionnaires across many disconnected systems. A platform that reduces that administrative work may become more valuable as a company grows.
Vanta also said it did not need to maximize the size of the round and characterized the financing as an opportunity-driven decision. That is the company’s account of its fundraising rationale, not an independently verified assessment of its financial position.
Products highlighted in the Series C announcement
Vanta highlighted AI-powered Questionnaire Automation, designed to speed up responses to security reviews. It also described a conversational AI interface intended to help users find answers and reduce repetitive questionnaire work.
Other capabilities emphasized included Trust Centers, continuous controls monitoring, policy building, background-check workflows, testing improvements and navigation updates. Enterprise-oriented features included expanded API functionality, SCIM provisioning and support for multiple instances.
TechCrunch reported that Vanta said about 80% of answers generated by its questionnaire tool were immediately accepted by human reviewers. That is a vendor-reported product metric, not an independently audited benchmark. AI-generated answers still need review for scope, date, system applicability and contractual accuracy.
Vanta’s reported traction
At the time of the Series C announcement, Vanta said it had more than 8,000 customers and had surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue during the financial year ending January 2024. TechCrunch reported that the company had more than 500 employees and that approximately one-quarter of its customers were outside the United States.

- Email schedules directly to your employees
TechCrunch also reported that roughly three-quarters of the then-current Y Combinator cohort used Vanta. Vanta named Atlassian, Omni Hotels, Quora and ZoomInfo among its customers.
Several customer outcomes cited in Vanta’s announcement were specific case-study claims rather than guarantees of typical results. Modern Health said it saved more than 100 hours annually on compliance and security work. SmartRecruiters reported saving 20 hours per week across its presales team. ZoomInfo said its Trust Center handled 90% of inbound security requests and that it automated eight to 10 security reviews per day.
What the valuation does—and does not—mean
A $2.45 billion post-money valuation is a negotiated private-market estimate, not a public stock-market price. It reflects what investors agreed the company was worth in that financing round, based on expectations about growth, market opportunity, execution and future liquidity.
The valuation signals strong investor confidence, particularly given Sequoia’s leadership and the participation of major financial investors. It does not prove that Vanta dominated its market, that its software produced a particular return, or that the company was profitable. Private-company valuations can change substantially in later financings or during a broader market reset.

Compliance software can organize evidence and automate workflows, but it does not make an organization secure by itself. It does not replace security engineering, penetration testing, legal review, an independent auditor or management accountability.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Companies using tools in this category should also watch for several practical risks:
- Compliance is not the same as security: passing an audit or maintaining a framework does not eliminate vulnerabilities.
- Stale evidence: evidence can become inaccurate after infrastructure, vendors, personnel or policies change.
- AI overconfidence: an answer that sounds plausible may not apply to the customer’s exact system or audit scope.
- Trust Center disclosure: public information should be useful without revealing sensitive architecture, incidents or operational details.
- Platform complexity: a broad GRC system may be excessive for a small company that needs only a narrowly scoped SOC 2 readiness project.
- Customer claims: case-study time savings and acceptance rates should not be treated as average results.
What happened next?
The 2024 Series C is no longer Vanta’s latest reported funding milestone. Forge’s funding records report that Vanta raised another $150 million in a Series D in July 2025 at a $4.15 billion valuation. Wellington Management reportedly led that round, with participation from existing investors including Sequoia, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Craft Ventures, Atlassian Ventures, CrowdStrike Ventures and Y Combinator.
Because the Series D information comes from a secondary funding source rather than a primary Vanta announcement in the supplied records, it should be read as a reported financing history. For readers in 2026, however, the key point is clear: the $2.45 billion figure describes the July 2024 Series C, not the latest reported valuation.
Vanta funding timeline
| Date | Milestone | Reported valuation |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | Earlier financing milestone | $1.6 billion |
| July 24, 2024 | $150 million Series C, led by Sequoia Capital | $2.45 billion post-money |
| July 2025 | $150 million Series D, reportedly led by Wellington Management | $4.15 billion |
Bottom line for readers following private-company finance
Vanta’s Series C showed that investors viewed compliance automation, customer trust workflows and AI-assisted security reviews as a large growth opportunity. The round also marked a push toward enterprise customers and international markets. But the valuation was a private financing benchmark, not a guarantee of business performance—and it was superseded by the later reported Series D valuation.

The more important questions are whether the platform supports the required frameworks, integrates with the company’s systems, provides appropriate human review and costs less than the internal time and operational risk it is intended to replace.
