The UPSC NDA and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2022 application window is closed. The archived notice scheduled the written exam for 10 April 2022 and listed 400 approximate, provisional vacancies for the 149th National Defence Academy course and 111th Indian Naval Academy Course. If you want to apply now, use UPSC’s current application portal and the notice for the relevant examination cycle—not a 2022 direct link.

What the 2022 NDA 1 announcement said

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) notice for NDA and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2022 scheduled the written examination for 10 April 2022. The examination was for admission to the 149th NDA course and the 111th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). UPSC’s question-paper archive also lists the 2022 examination.

The notice copy listed 400 approximate vacancies. It described the vacancies as provisional and subject to change according to training capacity, so 400 should not be treated as a guaranteed final intake or a count of candidates ultimately selected. The notice copy is hosted by a third party rather than on UPSC’s site.

Is the 2022 application form or direct link still open?

No. The invitation to apply for NDA 1 2022 is historical, not a live application route. The written examination took place on 10 April 2022, and the official result announcement said candidates who qualified in the written test would proceed to SSB interviews. A past application link cannot be used to apply for a current cycle.

The original UPSC-hosted notice and the exact 2022 application opening and closing dates were not verified here, so no dates should be inferred from the archived headline. The headline-matched announcement is available at Scroll.in; it is not an active UPSC application page. See the Press Information Bureau result notice for the exam and next-stage record.

How to find the current UPSC application route

  1. Open UPSC’s Apply Online page and follow its link to the current online application portal.
  2. Find the notice for the examination cycle you intend to enter. Check that cycle’s application period and requirements; examination-specific information is available only during the period stated in its notice.
  3. Use that notice to confirm eligibility, fees, required documents and other instructions before submitting an application. Do not rely on 2022 instructions for a current cycle.

UPSC announced that its replacement online application portal launched on 28 May 2025. Its notice describes a four-part, card-based system and says the old One Time Registration module would no longer apply. For current steps and requirements, follow the live portal and the relevant examination notice: UPSC’s portal announcement.

What the vacancy count does—and does not—mean

The 400 figure was an approximate, provisional vacancy count in the 2022 notice. It was tied to the planned course intake and could change with training capacity. It does not establish the number of final selections, nor does applying for the examination guarantee admission or appointment. The official result record supports the sequence of a written examination followed by SSB interviews for candidates who qualified.
