The last date to apply for UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2025 was 22 November 2024, after UPSC reopened the application window to include Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) sub-cadres in the examination. The Commission estimated approximately 457 vacancies, including 22 for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD); that was a provisional figure, not a final appointment count. The 2025 application window and examination cycle have ended.

What was the revised UPSC ESE 2025 application deadline?

UPSC accepted applications from new applicants during the reopened window of 18 October to 22 November 2024. The original application window had run from 18 September to 8 October 2024. The extension did not create a current opportunity to apply: both windows are historical.

Applicants who had already submitted an application during the original window did not need to file another one. They could update their particulars during the reopened application period or the separate correction window, which ran from 23 to 29 November 2024. PIB’s 18 October 2024 announcement set out the revised dates and applicant guidance.

Why did UPSC defer the deadline?

The Government decided to include Indian Railway Management Service sub-cadres in ESE 2025. These covered Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Signal and Telecom, and Stores. UPSC revised the schedule and reopened registration in response. The change was about incorporating those IRMS sub-cadres into the examination; it was not a general extension of an active application period.

How many ESE 2025 vacancies were announced?

UPSC’s 18 October 2024 addendum estimated approximately 457 vacancies, including 22 vacancies for PwBD candidates. The 22 comprised 13 for specified locomotor disabilities and nine for hard of hearing. UPSC stated that the vacancy count was liable to alteration, so 457 should be read as an estimate in the addendum—not a guaranteed or final number of appointments. See the UPSC ESE 2025 addendum for the notice and breakdown.

What were the revised ESE 2025 exam dates?

The revised schedule placed the preliminary examination on 8 June 2025 and the main examination on 10 August 2025. These were dates for the 2025 cycle, not upcoming exam dates. A PIB release dated 18 December 2025 later reported that the written examination had been held in August 2025 and personality tests took place in October and November 2025.

Is ESE 2025 registration still open?

No. Registration closed on 22 November 2024, and the correction window also ended in November 2024. The 2025 examination cycle has since proceeded through its written examination and personality tests, so the old deadline cannot be used to apply now.
