UPSC CSE 2025 registration is closed. The final application deadline recorded by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was 21 February 2025 at 18:00. The Preliminary Examination was held on 25 May 2025, and the final result was declared on 6 March 2026. The old “apply now” alert is no longer actionable.

What was the final UPSC CSE 2025 application deadline?

UPSC’s Examination Notifications Archives records 21 February 2025 at 18:00 as the final deadline for Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2025 applications. Although the application instructions published on 22 January initially gave 11 February 2025 as the closing date, the later archive entry lists the extended final date. The archive date is the one to use when stating when registration actually closed.

Did UPSC advertise 979 posts?

The 22 January 2025 examination notice said vacancies were “expected to be approximately 979,” including 38 reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability. UPSC also stated that the final number could change after it received confirmed figures from cadre-controlling authorities. The 979 figure was therefore an estimate in the notice, not a guaranteed final appointment count. The available official records cited here do not establish a definitive revised vacancy total.

What happened after registration closed?

The 2025 examination cycle has concluded. UPSC held the Preliminary Examination on 25 May 2025. The Press Information Bureau reported that the final result was declared on 6 March 2026, with 958 candidates recommended for appointment.

What did the 2025 application process require?

UPSC’s application instructions called for One Time Registration (OTR) and required applicants to upload the requested information and documents during the application window. Those instructions are historical guidance for the closed 2025 cycle, not steps a candidate can use to submit a late application.

The examination notice and instructions also directed applicants to consult the notice for eligibility and other application rules. For details such as educational and age eligibility, category relaxations, fees and attempt limits, refer to the official UPSC CSE 2025 examination notice. These are historical rules for that cycle; they should not be assumed to apply unchanged to a later examination.
