The “UPSC registration begins for 213 Lecturer, MO and other posts” headline refers to Union Public Service Commission Advertisement No. 13/2025. Applications opened on September 13, 2025 and closed at 23:59 on October 2, 2025. That window is over, and the old notice does not lead to a live application form today. This article explains what the 213 vacancies were, what the two headline roles required, and how to check whether UPSC has a current opening you can apply for.
Why the old “apply link” no longer works
Scroll.in reported the recruitment on September 17, 2025, four days after applications opened. The subheading told candidates they could apply until October 2, 2025, and that wording is the 2025 framing of the notice. As of October 2026, the application period for Advertisement No. 13/2025 has ended, so any page still presenting it as open is out of date. Readers searching for “UPSC recruitment last date” should treat October 2, 2025 as the final date for that advertisement, not as an upcoming deadline.
What the 213 vacancies covered
Advertisement No. 13/2025 invited direct recruitment by selection across ten post categories. The post-wise counts in the notice add up to the headline total of 213.
| Post | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| Additional Government Advocate | 5 |
| Additional Legal Adviser | 2 |
| Assistant Legal Adviser | 16 |
| Assistant Government Advocate | 1 |
| Deputy Government Advocate | 2 |
| Deputy Legal Adviser | 12 |
| Lecturer (Urdu) | 15 |
| Medical Officer | 125 |
| Accounts Officer | 32 |
| Assistant Director | 3 |
| Total | 213 |
Medical Officer accounted for more than half of the total, with 125 of the 213 posts. The legal posts together accounted for 38 vacancies, and the rest were spread across Lecturer (Urdu), Accounts Officer and Assistant Director.

The two roles named in the headline
The headline’s two highlighted posts sit in different state-level departments and have different eligibility rules. Treat the notice as ten separate recruitments that share one application window, not as a single job category.
Lecturer (Urdu): 15 posts in Ladakh
The 15 Lecturer (Urdu) vacancies were for the School Education Department of Ladakh. Candidates needed to check the separate vacancy item for this post, including its qualification, reservation and certificate requirements. The headline’s “Lecturer” label does not tell you which subject, qualification or domicile conditions apply, so do not assume they match the Medical Officer requirements.

Medical Officer: 125 posts in Ladakh
The 125 Medical Officer vacancies were in the Health and Medical Education Department of Ladakh. The notice required a recognized MBBS qualification and a Ladakh domicile for this recruitment. Those two conditions are the core screen for this post; a candidate without them was not eligible for this advertisement regardless of the fee or application route.
Dates, fee and how applications worked
- Applications opened: September 13, 2025.
- Online submission closed: 23:59 on October 2, 2025.
- Printing the completed application: allowed until 23:59 on October 3, 2025, for candidates who had fully submitted before the closing time.
- Application fee: ₹25 for candidates who were not exempt. Women, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) were exempt under the notice.
- Application route: the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) system named in the notice.
The notice warned applicants about accuracy. The sentence below is from the advertisement itself and is not attributed to any named official:

“The applicants are advised to fill in all their particulars in the online recruitment application carefully as submission of wrong information may lead to rejection through computer based shortlisting apart from debarment by the Commission.”
In practice, this means a mismatch between your entries and your documents can remove you from consideration before any interview or test, so check every field against your certificates before submitting.

How to check whether UPSC has a current opening
UPSC’s current Apply Online page lists Online Recruitment Application (ORA) for recruitment posts separately from examination applications, and it directs exam candidates to UPSC’s newer application portal. That separation matters: a recruitment notice and an examination notice use different forms. Use the following steps to confirm whether a listing is live.
- Go to UPSC’s official website and open its recruitment and Apply Online sections rather than searching for an “apply link” on a third-party page.
- Find the advertisement number and check that it matches the notice you are reading. Advertisement No. 13/2025 is closed.
- Read the closing date and time in the current advertisement, not a summary. Note whether the notice also has a separate printing deadline.
- Check the eligibility section for your post, including the qualification, domicile conditions, reservation rules and any certificate requirements.
- Confirm the fee and exemption rules in the current notice. Fees and exemptions can change between advertisements.
- Apply only through the route the official advertisement names. If a page asks for payment or personal documents on a different site, leave it.
What to compare before applying to any UPSC post
When you compare UPSC vacancies, the most useful fields are the post title, vacancy count, department and location, minimum educational or experience requirement, domicile condition, category allocation, age limit, pay level and the closing date. Compare each post on its own terms. A Lecturer post in one state and a Medical Officer post in another are not interchangeable, even when both appear in the same headline.
This article does not give pay levels, age limits or category allocations for each of the ten posts, because the summary of Advertisement No. 13/2025 available to us does not set those out cell by cell. Those details belong in the official advertisement itself, and you should read them there before deciding whether a post fits your qualifications.
Bottom line for anyone searching this headline
The 213-post recruitment was real, but it is closed. Its applications ran from September 13 to October 2, 2025, with printing allowed until October 3, 2025. If you are looking for a current opportunity, start from UPSC’s official listings and check the eligibility, domicile and fee rules in the advertisement that is open today.
