Which aircraft is United introducing?
It is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with United Elevated, a new interior and cabin offering. The 787-9 is not a new aircraft type for United; the announced change is the Elevated interior and its customer introduction.
In its 2026 proxy statement, published April 7, 2026, United included the 787-9 with United Elevated among aircraft it plans to add to its fleet. The statement does not identify the specific aircraft’s delivery year.
Is the 787-9 definitely arriving in 2026?
That timing is not confirmed by the cited announcements. United’s 2025 Corporate Impact Report says the airline planned 131 new aircraft deliveries across its fleet during 2026. That is a fleetwide figure, not a 787-9 delivery schedule.

The proxy statement says United plans to add about 250 new aircraft to its fleet by April 2028, including the 787-9 with United Elevated. It does not give that aircraft a specific delivery date. These statements support a 2026 fleet expansion plan and a planned introduction of the new 787-9 interior, but they do not prove that this particular aircraft will be delivered in 2026.

In its first-quarter 2026 results, published April 21, 2026, United said it had begun selling tickets for the first 787-9 with the Elevated interior on San Francisco–Singapore. The statement does not establish an exact inaugural flight date or confirm that the route assignment remains current.

United identified 99 total premium seats on the aircraft, including 64 United Polaris seats, and announced the new United Polaris Studio product. Those figures describe premium seating; United’s statement does not provide a complete cabin layout, a full seat map, or the total number of seats across all cabins.
