Union Bank of India’s 2024 apprentice selection list was reported released on 7 November 2024. Scroll reported that 460 candidates were provisionally selected against 500 advertised training seats after the online examination on 29 September 2024. This was a provisional result, not confirmation of employment: engagement depended on the bank’s verification and other conditions, and each candidate’s offer set the reporting date and venue.
What the 2024 result says
The result belongs to the 2024 recruitment cycle. Union Bank’s notification invited applications from 28 August to 17 September 2024 for 500 apprentice training seats across states; the bank said the number of seats was provisional and could change according to its requirements. Scroll reported 460 provisionally selected candidates after the 29 September online examination. The two figures describe advertised seats and provisional selections, respectively; they do not establish that the remaining seats were later filled or that a waitlist existed.

What provisional selection meant
Being on the provisional list did not make a candidate a Union Bank employee or guarantee final engagement. The bank’s 2024 notification described a one-year apprenticeship with on-the-job training in banking practices, products and processes. It set a stipend of ₹15,000 per month and said apprentices were not entitled to other allowances or benefits. The notice also stated that the apprenticeship was not employment and did not obligate the bank to offer a job after training.

Final engagement was conditional on meeting the bank’s cutoff and completing the required checks. The bank could verify age, category and education records, assess local-language proficiency, and require a medical fitness certificate from a practicing registered general physician.
How selection and language verification worked
The online objective test had 100 questions for 100 marks and a 60-minute time limit. Its sections covered general and financial awareness, general English, quantitative and reasoning aptitude, and computer knowledge. The notice also required proficiency in a specified local language.
Candidates could establish language proficiency with qualifying school records. If they could not provide those records, the bank could require a language test during document verification or personal interaction. The notice said successful candidates would receive an online apprenticeship offer through the relevant portal and had to accept it within the deadline stated there.

What to do if you were provisionally selected
- Check the official result PDF. Confirm your candidate-specific status against the list linked from Scroll’s announcement.
- Read your provisional engagement offer carefully. It controls your reporting date, venue and any instructions specific to you. Scroll reproduced the official notification’s direction that candidates report on the date and at the venue in their provisional offer, which was to be sent by email and registered post.
- Prepare the records requested. Scroll’s report listed identity and address proof, PAN and Aadhaar, original education certificates and marksheets, applicable caste, EWS or PwBD documents, photographs, self-attested copies, the bank application printout, apprenticeship portal IDs and a medical fitness certificate. Use your offer and official instructions to confirm the exact documents and format required.
- Complete the required verification and portal steps. Be ready for education, age and category checks, local-language proof or testing, medical fitness confirmation, and acceptance of the apprenticeship offer by its stated deadline.
Who was eligible under the 2024 notice
These criteria apply to the 2024 cycle only. Applicants needed a degree from a recognized university or institute and had to be 20–28 years old as of 1 August 2024, subject to category-based age relaxations in the notification. Applicants applied for their home state, selected a local language and could indicate district preferences, subject to the bank’s allotment.
