For UK shoppers looking back at Black Friday 2025, the most useful retailer depends on what you are buying and on the terms attached to the offer. Amazon, John Lewis, Argos and Currys each ran campaigns, but the available evidence does not establish an overall “best” retailer or a complete A-to-Z list. Their promotions are historical, not live recommendations: Black Friday fell on 28 November 2025, while retailer events began as early as October and continued into December.
Which retailers ran notable UK Black Friday 2025 campaigns?
These are selected examples, not a comprehensive alphabetical directory. Dates, discounts and guarantee terms below describe the retailers’ 2025 announcements; they do not show that an offer or product is still available.
| Retailer | What its 2025 campaign covered | What to know about its stated offer terms |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon UK | Amazon said its Black Friday Week ran from 20 November to 1 December, with offers across categories including home, electronics, beauty and apparel. It advertised deals of up to 40% across more than one million products. | The discount and product-count figures were Amazon’s promotional claims, not independent measures of savings. Its announcement also described daily themed and Doorbuster offers and named brands including Ninja, Philips, PlayStation, ghd, Levi’s and Oral-B. |
| John Lewis | John Lewis Partnership announced a month-long event beginning 30 October, with offers in categories including fashion, beauty, technology, electricals, toys and home. | The retailer said it would match 25 major competitors and associated offers, and refund the difference if a customer found the same item for less at a listed retailer within seven days of buying. Its published description is not a guarantee that every item or comparison qualifies; the applicable terms for a particular purchase matter. |
| Argos | Argos said its event ran from 31 October to 2 December. | Only products carrying the relevant price-guarantee badge qualified for the stated protection. If a qualifying displayed price fell before midnight on 25 December, Argos said it would provide an e-gift card for the difference—not a cash refund. Argos defined “our lowest price” as its lowest charge for that product in the previous six months, and “our lowest price ever” as its lowest charge ever. |
| Currys | Currys announced a 2025 “Our Lowest Ever Price” campaign, saying thousands of marked products would carry the badge. Its press release named the Sage Barista Touch SES880 bean-to-cup coffee machine as an example offer. | The badge and price guarantee were Currys’ claims about marked campaign products, not independent verification of each item’s price history. The named coffee machine is a historical example, not evidence of a current discount or availability. Currys also described a £10 benefit through its Double Cash for Trash promotion for qualifying purchases; eligibility should be checked against the relevant terms. |
For technology and appliances, Which? also lists AO, Euronics, Halfords, Hughes and John Lewis alongside Currys as retailers with price-match promises. It says Richer Sounds offers to beat a cheapest price found by between £5 and £100 depending on product value. Treat these as comparison candidates rather than blanket guarantees: eligibility can depend on the item, offer and circumstances.
Were Black Friday deals actually cheaper?
Not necessarily. Which? compared 175 home, technology and health appliances sold by Amazon, AO, Argos, Boots, Currys, John Lewis, Richer Sounds and Very. Its study tracked the 2024 Black Friday sales fortnight, 15 November to 12 December 2024, against prices from May 2024 to May 2025. Which? reported that 83% of the products it spotted during that sales period were available for the same price or less at other times in the surrounding year.

#1 Best Overall
That finding is limited to the products, retailers and dates in Which?’s study; it does not establish that every Black Friday offer is poor value, or describe the 2025 event. It does show why a sale badge or claimed saving is not enough to judge a deal.
How to check whether an offer suits your budget
- Match the exact product. Compare model numbers, specifications, bundles, colours, sizes and included accessories. Two listings that look alike may not represent the same item.
- Check its price history and competitors. Look at how the exact product’s price has changed, then compare the same model at other retailers. Which? names CamelCamelCamel for Amazon price histories and PriceRunner for broader coverage.
- Compare the total amount payable. Include delivery and other unavoidable charges rather than judging by the headline price. The Competition and Markets Authority’s price-transparency summary, updated 7 January 2026, says prices should be clear, complete and accurate and that traders should normally include unavoidable mandatory charges in the total.
- Read the price-match or guarantee conditions. Check which products and comparison retailers qualify, what evidence is needed, how long you have, and whether the remedy is a refund, voucher or another form of compensation. The retailer’s badge or headline description alone may not tell you whether your purchase qualifies.
- Check availability, delivery and returns. A lower price is not useful if the product cannot be delivered when you need it, is unavailable, or has return terms that do not work for you.
- Consider the product and retailer, not just the price. For an appliance or technology purchase, assess whether the item meets your needs and whether the retailer’s service and terms suit you. The available comparisons do not independently rank retailers’ service quality.
Why offers can appear before Black Friday
Retailers in 2025 did not limit their campaigns to the day itself: the announced event dates above show sales starting in October or November and, in some cases, continuing into December. Which? advises shoppers to set up a wish list, watch for deals earlier in November and avoid rushing; it notes that big-ticket products may sell out. Monitoring a specific item over time can help you distinguish a genuine price reduction from a prominent promotion on a price that has been similar elsewhere or at another point in the year.

Pressure tactics and marketplace listings
Northern Ireland’s Trading Standards Service advised shoppers to compare prices across retailers and warned that misleading offers, counterfeit products, fake reviews and pressure tactics can accompany Black Friday. Take particular care with marketplace listings and urgency messages: confirm who is selling the item, check the product details and compare the offer rather than relying on a countdown or review score alone. This is consumer guidance, not a finding about any particular listing or retailer.
