Ubisoft’s Creative Houses are five portfolio-focused business units, not simply a new name for its Tencent-backed studio. Tencent invested €1.16 billion in Vantage Studios for a 26.32% economic interest; Ubisoft says it retained exclusive control and continues to consolidate the subsidiary. Vantage is Creative House 1, responsible for Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six.
What Ubisoft’s Creative Houses model changes
Announced on January 21, 2026, the model groups Ubisoft’s game portfolios into five integrated units. Each Creative House is responsible for its portfolio’s creative and brand scope, including development, publishing, marketing and sales strategy, as well as financial performance and cash generation. Ubisoft said the structure is intended to bring focus, flexibility and decision-making closer to the portfolios; those are stated aims, not proof of improved games or results. The five houses are organized around franchise portfolios and broad audience or genre groupings:

Ubisoft also described a Creative Network of studios that can work across houses through project-based collaboration, co-development or end-to-end production assignments. Shared Core Services cover production services, technology and infrastructure, and business operations. Headquarters retains group vision, strategy, governance and capital allocation. These shared functions distinguish the model from five fully separate companies.

What Tencent owns—and what it does not
Ubisoft announced a binding agreement with Tencent on March 27, 2025, and said the transaction closed on November 21, 2025. Tencent invested €1.16 billion in Ubisoft Nova SAS, operating as Vantage Studios. The transaction assigned Vantage a €3.8 billion pre-money enterprise value. After closing, Tencent held a 26.32% economic interest in Vantage; Ubisoft said the studio remained exclusively controlled and consolidated by Ubisoft. That distinction matters: the disclosed stake is an economic interest in the Vantage subsidiary, not a purchase of Ubisoft as a whole or a transfer of control over Ubisoft. Vantage had been fully operational since October 1, 2025. Ubisoft said the proceeds would reduce consolidated net debt and support selected investment and transformation needs.

How far implementation had progressed by May 2026
In February 2026, Ubisoft reported that studio allocations across the Creative Houses and Creative Network had been announced, leadership appointments were ongoing, and the remaining operating-model work was being prepared for an early-April start. These are Ubisoft-reported figures and a company target. The May release also projected a reduced release schedule for FY2026–27 and forecast a return to positive non-IFRS EBIT and free cash flow in FY2027–28. Those are management outlook, not completed results.

The financial structure is clearer than the likely creative effect. Ubisoft has assigned defined portfolios and end-to-end responsibilities to the houses, while Tencent’s stake is specific to Vantage and does not, according to Ubisoft, give Tencent control of the group. Ubisoft’s savings, cancellations and delays show that the restructuring is occurring alongside cost reductions and portfolio changes; they do not establish that the new structure has improved game quality, player satisfaction or financial performance.

For players, the practical organizational change is where franchises sit: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six are under Vantage, while other franchises are distributed among four additional houses. Ubisoft’s published descriptions do not by themselves indicate a specific release date or guarantee a change in an individual game’s design or support.
