U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a combined $729.0 million in net outflows on October 7–8, 2026, according to Farside Investors’ daily flow table: $484.9 million on October 7 and $244.1 million on October 8. The outflows followed a $118.8 million net inflow on October 6. These figures measure net flows across the funds listed—not every investor’s actions, all Bitcoin trading, or a forecast of Bitcoin’s next move.

How the two-day total adds up

Farside’s “Bitcoin ETF Flow (US$m)” table reports daily totals in U.S. dollars, millions. The two sessions sum to $729.0 million in net outflows: $484.9 million plus $244.1 million. See Farside Investors’ Bitcoin ETF flow table.

Session Total net flow What it shows
October 5, 2026 −$89.8 million Net outflow
October 6, 2026 +$118.8 million Net inflow before the two-day reversal
October 7, 2026 −$484.9 million First outflow session
October 8, 2026 −$244.1 million Second outflow session
October 9, 2026 +$21.1 million Small net inflow on the next listed session

The October 7 outflow reversed the prior session’s inflow; another net outflow followed on October 8. The next listed session, October 9, showed a $21.1 million net inflow. That is a short sequence of reported fund flows, not evidence that all withdrawals were subsequently reversed.

Which funds contributed to the outflows?

Farside’s issuer columns show that flows differed by fund and by day. On October 7, the table recorded net outflows for IBIT, FBTC, BITB, ARKB, HODL, and GBTC. On October 8, it recorded outflows for several funds but also a small inflow for EZBC.

  • BITCOIN EXCLUSIVE, PHONE VERIFICATION: Bitkey is designed from the ground up exclusively for bitcoin — a dedicated hardware wallet for secure bitcoin storage. Approve transactions with a tap using your phone and NFC. No device screen is required.
  • SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
  • NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
  • 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
  • BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.

IBIT −$207.7 million −$5.5 million
FBTC −$105.1 million −$197.1 million
BITB −$27.6 million −$17.7 million
ARKB −$101.7 million −$20.3 million
HODL −$3.5 million Not listed among the October 8 figures cited here (Farside table)
GBTC −$39.3 million −$8.2 million
EZBC Not listed among the October 7 figures cited here (Farside table) +$4.7 million

The issuer figures are fund-level net flows, not a count of individual people buying or selling. They also illustrate why the combined daily total should not be described as every fund—or every holder—moving in the same direction.

What does “net outflow” mean?

A net outflow is the aggregate flow reported for the funds in the table after inflows and outflows are combined. It does not mean that every ETF holder sold shares, or that $729 million of Bitcoin was necessarily sold directly on spot exchanges. ETF flows are distinct from Bitcoin spot-market trading volume, and the total does not reveal investors’ identities or motives.

Farside says the table is generated automatically and cautions: “The above table is generated automatically. Farside Investors is not liable for any errors or inaccuracies in the data.” Its figures are best read as a dated snapshot for the stated sessions, rather than as a complete account of every market transaction.

Why did the outflows happen?

The contemporaneous explanation in Bitcoin Magazine’s October 9, 2026 report cited expectations of a possible Federal Reserve rate increase, rising Brent crude prices after renewed tanker attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, and uncertainty around Iran talks. The report presented those developments as context for the flow reversal and discussed how oil prices, inflation concerns, and interest-rate expectations can affect liquidity conditions for Bitcoin.

That reporting does not establish that any one factor caused the ETF flows. The Farside table gives the totals, but it does not explain why investors moved money. The available figures therefore support describing the timing and scale of the outflows, not assigning a proven motive.

What the two days do—and do not—say

The outflows were substantial across the listed funds, but two sessions alone cannot establish a durable change in investor demand or predict Bitcoin’s future price. The $21.1 million inflow shown for October 9 is one subsequent session, not enough by itself to demonstrate a lasting reversal. For personal-finance decisions, treat the numbers as one dated indicator among many, not as a standalone buy-or-sell signal.
