The Turbo Vac 800 Dual Action (model HVC-12) appeared in a Home Depot deal discussed in December 2003 for $14.95—about $15. That is a historical price, not a confirmed current offer. The same forum thread includes user reports of overheating, but they are anecdotes rather than controlled tests or evidence of a quantified defect.

What was the Turbo Vac 800 deal?

An AnandTech Forums thread started on December 22, 2003, discussed the Turbo Vac 800 Dual Action, model HVC-12. A participant reproduced a Home Depot listing with store SKU 185618 and a price of $14.95 per unit; the thread title rounded that to $15. Read the December 2003 AnandTech Forums thread.

The reproduced retailer listing described a vacuum and blower with 12 cleaning tools and accessories, a HEPA filter, and a carrying case. It presented the unit for tasks such as car and workshop cleanup, household messes, tight corners, and inflating rafts or air mattresses. These are details as reproduced by a forum participant, not independently verified current manufacturer specifications.

Does the Turbo Vac 800 overheat?

Thread participants raised overheating concerns. One reported that their Turbo Vac 800 overheated while vacuuming a car and resumed after sitting for roughly 30 minutes. Another described a 600-watt model overheating after about ten minutes. The reports concern different models and uses, and neither establishes a failure rate, safe operating duration, or general defect in the HVC-12.
