What happened in 2024
Tupperware Brands Corporation and certain subsidiaries filed voluntary Chapter 11 petitions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on September 17, 2024, according to the company’s SEC filing. That is the documented parent-company bankruptcy event; it is separate from the reported decision about the Australian operation.
PerthNow reported that Tupperware would shut down in Australia and named Party Products in connection with that decision. The article quoted a worker identified only as Maria: “We’ve been told the new owners that have purchased Tupperware global are not proceeding with Tupperware in Australia,” she said. The report does not provide her surname or job title.
How many Australian jobs were affected?
The PerthNow headline said “thousands,” but its accessible text does not give an Australian job-loss count, identify a statistical source, or explain a method for calculating that figure. The other sources reviewed do not establish a number either. Treat “thousands” as headline wording, not a verified employment statistic.

PerthNow also reported Maria’s account that staff had been told operations would continue in eight of 70 countries. That detail is attributed to what workers were told; it is not an independently documented count in the available sources.
Is Tupperware still in Australia?
Yes, according to the brand’s current Australian website. Its FAQ says operations in Australia and New Zealand stopped for a period, but distribution rights were later acquired and products are again available online and through retail partners. The company’s About page identifies H.A.G Imports LTD as the owner associated with the 2026 relaunch.
