TSMC’s October 15, 2026, earnings report is a timely early read on broad chipmaking demand and production conditions—but it cannot tell investors how many chips it made for NVIDIA or predict NVIDIA’s revenue on its own. TSMC’s September sales and third-quarter guidance offer useful context; NVIDIA’s own $108.0 billion Q3 FY2027 revenue outlook, plus or minus 2%, remains the more direct benchmark for NVIDIA.
When TSMC reports and what is already known
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has scheduled its Q3 2026 earnings conference for Thursday, October 15. Its official calendar says the company observed a quiet period from October 5 through October 14. TSMC Q3 2026 results and its financial calendar list the event.

As of October 11, TSMC has not published its Q3 actual results or earnings-call commentary. It has, however, reported September monthly revenue and provided quarterly guidance, giving investors a set of figures to compare with its October results.
September revenue: sharply higher year over year, slightly lower month over month
TSMC reported consolidated revenue of NT$511.86 billion for September 2026. That was up 54.6% from September 2025 and down 0.6% from August 2026. Revenue for January through September 2026 totaled NT$3,898.73 billion, up 41.1% year over year. These are company-wide sales figures, not NVIDIA-specific revenue. TSMC monthly revenue

- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
The two comparisons answer different questions: the year-over-year gain shows how September compares with a year earlier, while the modest monthly decline shows that sales were a little lower than in August. Neither figure alone establishes what happened to NVIDIA’s orders or shipments.
TSMC’s Q3 guidance: the earnings-day benchmark
TSMC guided to Q3 2026 net revenue of US$44.6 billion to US$45.8 billion, a gross margin of 65.0% to 67.0%, and an operating margin of 56.0% to 58.0%. These are management’s guidance ranges, not reported Q3 results. TSMC Q3 2026 results

On October 15, investors can compare actual revenue with the guided range, then consider whether the reported margins and management’s comments support a broad interpretation of demand and production conditions. Strong sales alongside margins near guidance would convey a different picture from revenue growth paired with weaker-than-guided margins.

TSMC manufactures chips for customers; NVIDIA reports sales of its own products and gives its own outlook. TSMC’s revenue and margins can add context about foundry activity, but its public monthly revenue report does not identify customer-level shipments or disclose how much of its revenue came from NVIDIA. A strong TSMC result therefore supports a broad chip-demand signal, not a precise estimate of NVIDIA’s revenue.

TSMC CFO Wendell Huang said in the company’s Q2 2026 earnings release that “Our business in the second quarter was supported by strong demand for our leading-edge process technologies.” That is a company-level description of support for TSMC’s Q2 business, not a quantified statement about NVIDIA. NVIDIA’s filings identify reliance on third parties for manufacturing, assembly, packaging, and testing among factors that may affect its results. Use NVIDIA’s outlook as the direct company benchmark
NVIDIA reported Q2 FY2027 revenue of $96.2 billion, including $89.0 billion from Data Center. It said total revenue rose 18% sequentially and 106% year over year; Data Center revenue rose 18% sequentially and 117% year over year. For Q3 FY2027, NVIDIA forecast revenue of $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%, and a gross margin of 74.0%, plus or minus 50 basis points. The company said its Q3 outlook did not assume Data Center compute revenue from China. These are reported Q2 results and a Q3 outlook, respectively—not Q3 actuals. NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 results

For a personal investor, the practical distinction is simple: use NVIDIA’s $108.0 billion forecast as the direct company-level reference point, and treat TSMC’s report as additional evidence about the supplier and foundry environment. TSMC’s figures do not revise NVIDIA’s forecast.

- Compare actual revenue with guidance. Is TSMC’s Q3 net revenue inside, above, or below its US$44.6 billion to US$45.8 billion range?
- Read the trend in both directions. Consider sequential and year-over-year movement rather than relying on the large annual increase alone.
- Put margins beside revenue. Check reported gross and operating margins against the respective guidance ranges of 65.0%–67.0% and 56.0%–58.0%.
- Separate company-wide demand from NVIDIA-specific proof. Management commentary may add context about leading-edge demand or production conditions, but do not treat it as a customer-level NVIDIA shipment disclosure.
- Keep NVIDIA’s outlook in view. TSMC’s report is context for NVIDIA’s Q3 FY2027 forecast, not a replacement for it.
What the report cannot establish
TSMC’s published monthly revenue is company-wide. The cited materials provide no customer-level revenue figure for NVIDIA and no numeric breakdown of TSMC revenue attributable to NVIDIA. Without such disclosure, a precise estimate of NVIDIA’s contribution to TSMC’s sales is not established.
Likewise, TSMC’s Q3 actual results and call commentary were still pending as of October 11, 2026. NVIDIA’s $108.0 billion Q3 FY2027 figure is an outlook; the cited materials do not provide NVIDIA’s actual Q3 FY2027 results. These distinctions matter when using supplier results to assess a company’s prospects.
