The Trump administration announced lower prices and new access arrangements for certain GLP-1 medicines on November 6, 2025. But there is no single deal price for everyone: costs depend on the drug, dose, purchase channel, insurance, and eligibility. As of October 8, 2026, TrumpRx listed starting prices of $149 a month for Wegovy pills, $199 for Wegovy pens and Ozempic, and $299 for Zepbound—different from the figures in the original announcement.
What did the November 2025 GLP-1 deal announce?
The White House described arrangements with Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk covering several medicines and separate payment channels. Its November 6, 2025 fact sheet said Ozempic and Wegovy would be offered through TrumpRx at $350 per month, compared with reference prices of $1,000 and $1,350, respectively. It cited an average $346 monthly TrumpRx price for Zepbound and orforglipron if approved, and $150 for an initial dose of the Wegovy pill or similar oral GLP-1 medicines if approved. These were announced terms, not a guarantee of what any particular patient would pay. White House fact sheet, November 6, 2025.
For Medicare and Medicaid, the same fact sheet stated a $245 price for Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound, and said Medicare beneficiaries would pay a $50 monthly copay. It also described Medicare coverage for Wegovy and Zepbound for patients with obesity and related comorbidities. Those statements concern public-program arrangements and eligibility; they should not be read as a universal cash price or as a promise that every enrollee qualifies.
The manufacturers described details specific to their products and channels. Lilly said eligible Medicare beneficiaries would pay no more than $50 a month for Zepbound and, if FDA-approved, orforglipron, with availability expected as early as April 1, 2026. It also advertised self-pay Zepbound multi-dose pen prices through LillyDirect of $299 for the lowest dose and up to $449 for higher doses. Novo Nordisk said lower prices for semaglutide medicines, including Wegovy and Ozempic, were expected to begin in 2026. Its announcement included lower prices in Medicaid and the direct-to-patient cash channel, and described Medicare Part D obesity coverage through a pilot. How much do medicines cost through TrumpRx now?
The TrumpRx medication list accessed on October 8, 2026 showed these lowest listed monthly prices. They are current portal listings observed on that date, not the November 2025 announcement figures or a guarantee of the cost for every product, dose, or buyer.

Does Medicare cover weight-loss GLP-1 drugs?
The administration’s announcement described Medicare coverage for Wegovy and Zepbound for patients with obesity and related comorbidities, with a $50 monthly beneficiary copay. Novo Nordisk separately characterized its Medicare Part D obesity coverage arrangement as a pilot, rather than universal coverage for all enrollees. Lilly said its announced Medicare terms for Zepbound and orforglipron, if approved, could start as early as April 1, 2026. The medicine, indication, clinical criteria, plan rules, and implementation terms matter; the announcement alone does not establish that a specific patient or use is covered. A separate Medicare pharmacy program
Amazon Pharmacy describes a temporary Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program running from July 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027, with a $50 monthly price for eligible Part D members. Its listed weight-loss medicines are Wegovy, Zepbound KwikPen, and Foundayo; Ozempic and Mounjaro are not included. Amazon says eligibility requires Part D membership and a provider prescription for a covered medicine. This is a particular program with its own terms, not proof that all Medicare plans cover these medicines at that price. Check Amazon’s current program information for eligibility and terms.

Medicaid
The White House announcement stated a $245 price for named medicines in Medicare and Medicaid, while Novo Nordisk described lower Medicaid prices and Lilly said states could expand access. A state’s implementation and the patient’s program and clinical eligibility determine what applies; the announcement is not a guarantee of a uniform price or coverage in every state.

Cash purchase
TrumpRx and manufacturer direct-to-patient channels are distinct from submitting a prescription to an insurance plan. The White House’s original figures and the portal’s later listings differ, and manufacturer offers can have their own product, dose, and purchase conditions. HHS said manufacturers may offer lower-cost direct cash sales to patients, including Medicare and Medicaid enrollees, under specified safeguards, including that the medicine not be billed to federal programs. Commercial insurance
The announcements do not establish that commercial plans will cover these medicines or that insured patients will receive the TrumpRx or cash price. Lilly specifically said its agreement did not include commercial-channel pricing obligations. Check your plan’s formulary and benefit rules, including whether coverage depends on the medicine’s indication; do not assume a cash offer can be combined with insurance billing.

How to check the price you may actually pay
- Identify the exact medicine and use. Confirm the prescribed brand and formulation, dose, and indication with your clinician; coverage for one use does not establish coverage for another.
- Choose the payment route to check. Look separately at your insurance benefit, applicable Medicare or Medicaid terms, and a cash channel such as TrumpRx or a manufacturer program. They are not interchangeable.
- Verify eligibility and final terms. Check the live portal or program page and ask the pharmacy or plan about the dose, prescription requirements, state or plan rules, and any conditions attached to the listed amount.
- Confirm before filling. Prices and program details can change. Ask what you will owe for the specific prescription before purchase, and whether the transaction will be billed to insurance or paid in cash.
What is—and is not—established about savings
The White House and manufacturers announced price and access arrangements; their announcements do not independently show how many patients ultimately obtained coverage or realized savings because of the deal. A portal listing is evidence of a listed price on the access date, not a measured patient outcome. For a personal budget, rely on the current price and eligibility terms for the exact medicine and channel you can use.
