Tripura has announced a 3-percentage-point increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners and retired employees, taking the reported rate to 44% from October 1, 2026. News On AIR confirms that HRA for regular government employees rises from 8% to 10% of basic pay. TripuraInfo reports that the monthly HRA ceiling increases from ₹3,000 to ₹10,000. The ceiling detail comes from that regional report; the public broadcaster’s account confirms the percentage change but does not state a cap.

What did the state say about the Central DA gap?
According to News On AIR, Saha said the increase would reduce the difference between Tripura’s DA/DR and that of Central government counterparts to 16 percentage points. That is the Chief Minister’s reported comparison; it is not an independently verified current comparison of rates on a common basis.
How much will the HRA increase cost?
Newshunt Tripura reports HRA-related expenditure of ₹141.96 crore annually and ₹59.15 crore in the current financial year. These are separate from the around ₹300 crore annual DA/DR expenditure reported by News On AIR. The HRA cost figures are reported by one outlet and should be read as that report’s estimates.

Who should check the implementing order?
The contemporaneous reports identify state government employees and pensioners or retired employees as the DA/DR groups, and regular government employees as the HRA group. They do not establish eligibility for contractual staff, aided institutions, autonomous bodies, or every other employee category. Employees should refer to the applicable Tripura government order or department circular for their own coverage and payment details.
A 2025 Tripura installment also involved a 3-point DA/DR increase effective October 1 of that year, but it was a separate earlier decision. The Finance Department’s September 2025 order stated a 36% rate after that installment; it does not establish the terms of the October 2026 decision.
