The available product information supports a use-case comparison, not an objective ranking: details for the SPF 50+ spray are incomplete, and none of these products was independently tested. Trader Joe’s says product details and availability can change, so check with your local store for current stock and price.

How to choose among the four
The American Academy of Dermatology recommends choosing sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection, and water resistance. Its guidance also recommends considering your skin type, any relevant skin conditions, and where you plan to apply it. These are selection criteria, not a guarantee that a particular formula will suit everyone. American Academy of Dermatology sunscreen selection guidance
- For facial use: The Daily Facial Sunscreen page describes a matte, fragrance-free formula intended for the face. The page does not state that it is water-resistant.
- For a body gel: The Invisible Gel page states resistance to water and sweat for up to 40 minutes. It is not a substitute for following the label’s directions.
- For a mineral active ingredient: The Zinc Oxide Mineral Spray lists 15% zinc oxide and up to 80 minutes of water resistance. AAD notes that some people whose skin stings or burns with sunscreen may consider mineral active ingredients such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide; individual reactions vary.
- For the SPF 50+ spray: The name alone does not establish broad-spectrum protection or water resistance. Read the current package for active ingredients and the full directions before choosing it for those features.
What the water-resistance times mean
The listed 40- and 80-minute claims are different product-label durations for expected SPF protection while swimming or sweating. They are not permission to wait that long in every situation before reapplying. The FDA advises reapplying sunscreen at least every two hours and more often after swimming or sweating, while following the specific product’s water-resistance directions. “No sunscreen is waterproof,” the FDA says. How to apply sunscreen effectively
- Apply before going outdoors. Cover all exposed skin, using the product according to its label.
- Use enough. AAD estimates that most adults need about one ounce to cover skin not covered by clothing, and advises using at least one teaspoon for the face.
- Reapply at least every two hours. Reapply immediately after swimming or sweating, and follow the product’s more specific directions if applicable.
- Add other protection. FDA recommends shade, protective clothing, and sunglasses alongside sunscreen. Consider UPF-rated clothing, UV-rated sunglasses, and SPF lip balm as complementary measures.

The official Trader Joe’s pages identified here document four products. They do not establish a fifth product, and the available details do not support ranking the options by tested performance. The SPF 50+ spray’s page provides too little information for a full formula or label comparison. Check Trader Joe’s current assortment and packaging for additions or changed claims before relying on product details.
