The announcement described 3,400 two-person vouchers, valued from $150 to $2,200, with more than $500,000 in voucher value to be distributed. The sources do not show that the original offer is still available.
What the March 2022 giveaway offered
The Western Australian Government said the promotion would begin after midnight on 3 March 2022, alongside the state’s full border opening to interstate and overseas travel from 12:01 a.m. Arrivals were subject to the vaccination and testing requirements in force at that time. The campaign’s stated purpose was to welcome visitors and encourage them to support local tourism operators.
The government announcement described 3,400 “Gifts From Western Australia” vouchers for two people, ranging in value from $150 to $2,200. It gave a three-day Margaret River tour as an example of the highest-value experience. Other examples included skydiving at Rottnest Island, swimming with dolphins, touring Penguin Island and sunset stargazing at the Pinnacles. The announced value of more than $500,000 refers to the vouchers offered, not a measured economic impact. Government of Western Australia announcement, 2 March 2022.
The announcement also said 1,000 vouchers were included for StudyPerth to target to international students. Tourism Minister Roger Cook described the vouchers as “the first of many initiatives to attract international and interstate visitors back to our State.”

Why reports give two different voucher counts
The announcement’s 3,400 figure and Tourism WA’s later figure of 3,700 refer to different published accounts and should not be treated as interchangeable. Tourism WA’s 2021–22 annual report says 3,700 Perth tour and experience vouchers were distributed as travel restrictions eased on 3 March 2022. It describes these as available only to international and interstate visitors, for bookable products in the Destination Perth region, and says participating businesses had shown at least a 50% downturn in 2021 compared with 2019. Tourism Western Australia, Annual Report 2021–22.
The annual report’s distribution figure is a later reported count; it does not change what the government announcement initially said. The available sources do not explain the difference between the two numbers.

The April discount campaign was separate

Can visitors still claim the original vouchers?
The cited government announcement and Tourism WA reports document a 2022 campaign; they do not establish a current claim window or present-day redemption terms. They therefore do not support treating the giveaway as an active offer now. Anyone checking an old voucher should rely on its own terms and contact the relevant operator or issuer to confirm whether it can still be redeemed.
