A 2025 voluntary recall covered three lots of Topo Chico Mineral Water Carbonated in 16.9 fl oz (500 mL) bottles because of a reported Pseudomonas contamination concern. Check the lot code on the bottle neck and case. If it matches a listed lot, do not drink it; follow the retailer’s return or disposal guidance.
Which Topo Chico bottles were recalled?
The recall applies to Topo Chico Mineral Water Carbonated in 16.9 fl oz (500 mL) bottles—not every product sold under the Topo Chico name. The FDA enforcement information lists these affected lot codes:
- 11 A 2543
- 12 A 2543
- 13 A 2541
The listed bottle UPC is 0 21136 18061 9; the case UPC is 0 21136 18062 6. These identifiers can help confirm the product, but check the lot code as well. Coca-Cola’s current U.S. product page distinguishes Mineral Water from its Sabores and Colección lines; those lines are not named in this recall record.
FDA enforcement information reproduced by SPEQ lists the product, package size, UPCs and lots. Coca-Cola’s U.S. product page shows the separate product lines.

How to check the lot code and what to do
- Find the code on the case and on the neck of the bottle. Costco’s June 2, 2025 member notice identifies both locations.
- Compare the code with 11 A 2543, 12 A 2543 and 13 A 2541. Formatting may appear without spaces, such as 13A2541.
- If the lot matches, do not consume the water. ConsumerLab advises discarding it or returning it to the place of purchase.
- Ask the retailer where you bought it about its return or disposal instructions. Costco’s notice specifically offered a full refund for lot 13A2541 purchased at Costco; that notice does not establish a refund policy for other lots or retailers.
Costco’s member notice also gives its purchase details and return instruction. ConsumerLab’s recall summary advises consumers not to drink affected product.
What happened, and where was the product distributed?
The Coca-Cola Company initiated the voluntary recall on May 28, 2025. The enforcement information, dated June 25, 2025, says a distributor notified the company that product previously placed on hold had been released and shipped to customers. It reports 241 cases of 18 bottles distributed to Arizona, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada and Texas.

- Pack of 8 12 fl oz cans
Costco’s June 2 notice described a narrower situation: purchases of an 18-pack at select Texas and Louisiana warehouses from May 20 through May 29, 2025. That purchase window is specific to the Costco notice and does not describe the full distribution scope reported in the enforcement information.
What does the notice say about Pseudomonas?
The enforcement record gives the reason as “Pseudomonas in Mineral Water.” In its Costco notice, Coca-Cola said Pseudomonas can occur naturally in water sources, including mineral water. The company characterized health consequences from Pseudomonas aeruginosa in mineral water as very low for healthy individuals, with potential minor consequences for people with weakened immune systems. That is the company’s statement, not individualized medical advice.

The enforcement information labels the recall completed and identifies only the specified product, bottle size and lots. It does not say that every Topo Chico product is affected, nor does completion establish that every recalled bottle was recovered. The FDA notes that its general recalls page may not include every recall and that older records may be archived, so the absence of a listing there does not by itself prove that no recall exists.
