The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) reports that Merlin Entertainments drew 62.8 million visits that year; the excerpt available for the report does not provide enough operator data to verify all ten positions or totals. That means a reliable top-ten list cannot be published from these figures alone.
What “most popular” means in this comparison
Here, “popular” means estimated annual attendance across an operator’s parks. It is a measure of visits, not a poll of brand preference, a rating of guest satisfaction, or a judgment about the quality of a visit. For a fair comparison, the figures must use the same unit and period: operator-level attendance for the same calendar year, rather than attendance at individual parks or company revenue. TEA says its Global Experience Index ranks operators by attendance and covers calendar-year results and regional markets: TEA Global Experience Index.
What the latest report establishes
The latest edition identified here is the 2024 TEA Global Experience Index, released on 23 October 2025. It covers attendance during calendar year 2024 and includes rankings for individual parks, water parks, museums, and theme-park group operators. TEA reported that combined attendance at the top 25 individual theme parks worldwide rose 2.4% in 2024, to almost 246 million. That figure is for those 25 parks collectively; it is not a growth rate or total for the ten largest operator groups. See TEA’s 2024 index announcement.
Which operators are named—and what remains unverified
The accessible excerpt from the 2024 report names Disney Experiences, Merlin Entertainments, Universal Destinations & Experiences, and Chimelong Group. It reports 62.8 million visits for Merlin Entertainments in 2024. The excerpt does not establish the complete top-ten order or the attendance totals needed to compare all ten operators. The partial data therefore cannot support a ranked top-ten table, and the other named operators should not be assigned positions based on inference. The available report excerpt is the 2024 TEA report PDF.

- MANAGE your money wisely with the help of concession stands.
How to read operator attendance figures
- Check the level of comparison. A group’s combined attendance across its parks is not interchangeable with a single park’s attendance.
- Keep the reporting year consistent. This report’s figures refer to calendar year 2024, even though the report was released in 2025.
- Do not treat visits as revenue or unique people. Attendance counts visits; it does not by itself show how much an operator earned or how many distinct guests it served.
- Attribute figures to the index. United Parks & Resorts cautioned in a filing concerning the prior report that the cited rankings had not been independently validated by the company. That is a reason to identify the source and its methodology, not to treat rankings as audited company financial results: United Parks & Resorts filing.
Why this is not a verified top-ten list
A complete ranking requires the full operator table: the rank, 2024 attendance total, and any reported year-over-year change for each group. The available excerpt supplies only partial operator detail. Filling the gaps with estimates or third-party retellings would risk mixing different years, definitions, or types of attendance. Until the complete table can be checked, the defensible conclusion is limited: TEA’s 2024 report is the relevant latest edition identified here, and the available excerpt confirms Merlin’s 62.8 million visits but not a full ten-operator ranking.
