There is no single cross-industry “Top 50 distributors” ranking: leaders depend on what they distribute, where they operate, and how sales are counted. The newest industrial list identified here is Industrial Distribution’s 2026 Big 50, ranking North American industrial distributors on 2025 sales. Its top five are W.W. Grainger, Motion, Winsupply, Fastenal, and Airgas. Electronics and chemical distributors are ranked separately under different rules.
Who are the largest industrial distributors in North America?
Industrial Distribution’s 2026 Big 50, published September 25, 2026, ranks North American industrial distributors by annual revenue and reports 2025 sales. Its five leaders are:
| Rank | Distributor | 2025 sales |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | W.W. Grainger | $17.9 billion |
| 2 | Motion | $8.91 billion |
| 3 | Winsupply | $8.38 billion |
| 4 | Fastenal | $8.2 billion |
| 5 | Airgas | $8 billion |
These figures are 2025 sales as presented in the publication’s 2026 ranking; they should not be read as current-year forecasts or as a comparison with rankings covering different sectors.
How do electronics distributor rankings differ?
ECIA’s 2026 Top 50 covers authorized electronic-component distributors in the Americas and uses 2025 sales. It excludes brokers, and Arrow Electronics and Avnet lead the North American distributor market. ECIA’s report says the Top 50 generated $30.9 billion in combined Americas revenue in 2025, up 7.1% from $28.8 billion in 2024.

The market figures describe the report’s specific authorized-distributor group, not the entire electronics supply chain. ECIA notes that some company totals and category splits are estimated when survey inputs were incomplete. Its report also says Aerospace/Military became the largest Americas end market for electronic components in 2025: $7.8 billion, or 25.1% of the component-distribution end market, after 34.6% growth that year. Worldwide revenue for the Americas Top 50 rose 7.7%, from $121.5 billion in 2024 to $130.8 billion in 2025; EMEA revenue declined 2.7%.

Why “top 50” depends on the ranking
Different lists answer different questions. Industrial Distribution’s ranking is North American and industrial; ECIA’s is for authorized electronics distributors in the Americas; ICIS’s 2026 ranking covers global chemical distributors and is based on 2025 sales. Those groups cannot be combined into a meaningful single league table because their products, geographies, and inclusion rules differ.
For a broader view, Modern Distribution Management’s 2025 Top Distributors feature lists more than 200 North American companies across 20 product verticals, using 2024 fiscal revenue within each sector. A company’s displayed overall revenue may differ from the sector-specific revenue used to place it, and the methodology may use reported or estimated revenues. Consult the MDM lists for vertical-by-vertical comparisons.
How to compare distributor rankings fairly
Before treating two rankings as comparable, check the measures that define each list:
- Product vertical: industrial supplies, authorized electronics, and chemicals are separate markets.
- Geography: confirm whether the ranking covers North America, the Americas, or worldwide operations.
- Sales period: a list published in 2026 may report 2025 sales, while another list may use 2024 fiscal revenue.
- Revenue basis: determine whether placement uses total company revenue or sales within a particular sector.
- Reported or estimated figures: some rankings use estimates when companies do not provide complete data.
- Inclusion rules: ECIA’s list, for example, covers authorized distributors and excludes brokers.
What the rankings say about market conditions
Industrial Distribution’s introduction to its 2026 Big 50 describes 2025 as a year of soft demand, tariff uncertainty, supply-chain volatility, and higher operating costs. It reports that distributors highlighted operational discipline, organic growth, logistics and infrastructure improvements, digital transformation, and—in several cases—AI investment. These are publisher-reported themes, not strategies attributed to every company on the list.
Rank #4
ECIA’s electronics figures point to a different demand pattern: strong growth in Aerospace/Military helped make it the largest Americas end market for electronic components in 2025. Because the two rankings cover different distribution sectors, their market context should be interpreted separately.
