- Permitted work locations: Which countries, states, or regions are eligible? Does “remote” mean remote only within one country?
- Employment arrangement: Is the position an employee role or a contractor engagement? Are benefits included?
- Schedule: Are there required hours, time-zone overlap, or a fixed schedule?
- Compensation and benefits: What pay range, benefits, and employment terms apply to your location?
- Availability: Is the role open now, and are you eligible to apply from where you live?
How to use this list today
Treat the ranking as a historical lead list for exploring employers and types of work—not as evidence that a company is hiring or will let you work from your preferred location. The 2024 article noted that 16 employers returned to the list, including Chainlink Labs, Wikimedia Foundation, and Finixio. It also reported continued representation from computer and IT, marketing, and writing and editing, as well as growth in titles such as customer success manager and translator. Those points describe the article’s 2024 findings, not today’s hiring market.
For a current opportunity, go to the employer’s careers page and read the posting’s location and eligibility language before evaluating the role. Confirm any unclear country, schedule, or employment-status requirement with the employer rather than inferring it from the word “remote” or from this ranking.
